sf/f TV development news - 2013

I think so. I'm not as familiar with some of the stuff they did back in the '80s like The Storyteller and Fraggle Rock, so could they could have had something sci-fi in that era. But for the post-Sopranos era it is.

Unless they are radically changing the series, that character isn't the central focus.

For the first book's story, he could qualify as co-lead. I think as many pages are devoted to him as are to Holden. But you're right, for Jane to stick around on the show, some MAJOR alterations will be in order.

well he's there in all of so far in em.. one form or another. Sadly the problem is going to be they will neuter Chrisjen Avasarala's character and all the wonderful lines she gets...

Ed Harris has signed to star in Westworld. From Deadline Hollywood:

Inspired by Michael Crichton’s 1973 sci-fi movie set at an amusement park, Westworld is described as a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the future of sin. Harris will play The Man in Black — the distillation of pure villainy into one man.

The original Westworld had three different worlds-- Westworld, Medievalworld, and Romanworld, I think-- so hopefully this show will have multiple worlds as well. I'm fine with them focusing on the Western element, though-- I like genre-bending Westerns.

Me too, and then if the show continues we could always go to the other areas in future seasons. I think it could be actually kind of fun if each season had a different theme. Western for season 1, Roman for 2, and Medival for 3, if they stick with the ones RJDiogenes mentioned.

I'm glad to see Michelle Forbes getting a new gig.
From what I've read about the comics online, I know that
Retro Girl is the victim in the homicide case that makes up the first arc. So does this mean we'll only see Michele in the first episode? Or could there be flashacks throughout the season?
I just looked Copely up on Wikipedia and according to that this will be his first regular TV gig. I liked him in District 9, so I look forward to seeing him in this.

Steven Spielberg Developing Minority Report TV Series

Spielberg has hired Godzilla scribe Max Borenstein to write the project, and Spielberg's Amblin TV would produce. In recent years, Spielberg has taken on more TV projects through his production company, including Falling Skies, Extant and the upcoming Red Band Society. According to the site, Spielberg is expected to be heavily involved in Minority Report's small-screen adaptation.

Could be this be the next CBS Summer series?
