New To Voyager

The only reason he settles on a name is because he has a human woman who no doubt didn't want to keep calling him Doctor. I like his simple name, it's classy. The Doctor is larger than life and it fits that his name is humble. Otherwise it's an over glitzy package.

It would have been just as simple if he'd named himself Bob. And a big inside joke when Paris berates him for such a plain name.

In honour of my deep friendship with Lieutenant Joe Carey and his unfortunate recent traumatic passing that I or any member of the crew will ever recover from, I have not even considered in the slightest changing my name to Joe.

Update! 5 more episodes and I will be finished S3! I think it has been an improvement over the first 2 seasons. I'm so excited for S4!

When he starts talking about his wife, imagine it's Kitty who he is talking about.

It makes the whole thing about 10 times as surreal.

We have no reason to believe that he did the same thing in the last timeline, given that he's back 26 years earlier, it's likely that his future bride (in the other timeline) isn't even born. He'll probably meet and marry another woman and make other arrangements (Fyi: Joe was linked to the other woman so it's unlikely that he'll take that name now.)

With Zimmerman I remember that Susan Wright's book "Violations" used that name in every scene that had the Doctor, and I remember Wright commenting in "Voyages Of Imagination" that the Zimmerman name was in early scripts that she was given for reference, and apparently there were plans for the Doctor to take the name of his "creator", but it was ultimately dropped.

The Doctor is named Zimmerman in the book "The Escape" too. The book is written by Dean Wesley Smith & Kristine Kathryn Rusch and is the second Voyager book published after "Caretaker".

"Violations" is book 4 and it's excellent. "The Escape" is a good book too.

I really like the seasons 1-3 Voyager books (feel free to read my reviews at the Kes Website). There are great stories in them and I find many of the stories in the books better than some of the TV episodes. My favorites are "The Black Shore" by Greg Cox and "Marooned" by Christie Golden.

Well, that leaves the field open for the best name: Shmullus!

It's a cross between Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo and a terrible case of Daddy issues.

Her next very innocent request would have been for the EMH to adopt the physical characteristics of her father while not abating for a second with their crazy sex life.

I must admit that I find "Real Life" a bit boring. Too soapy and syrupy for my taste.

I liked it because the Doctor is a prominent character and it shows him finally understanding the depth of human emotions. That's just me though, I know my opinion differs from others. I also watched "Distant Origins" and found it boring.

The entire family program from the EMH's perfect cereal commercial family to B'Elanna's reprogrammed wannabe Klingon teen is totally hilarious. VOY was always the comedy Trek and this one is top.

Well I found the ending to be extremely sad. I just finished "Worst Case Senario" and really liked that one. I'm saving "Scorpion Part 1" for tomorrow.
