Eh. Read this. (It's brief, highly relevant, and very worth it.Dukhat said:Spock is also a human name. As are Dax, Kira, Nerys and Kang.
To be fair, none of those names are in "every-day-sounding" use as "Caitlyn" is (or at least in every-day use in the US, which was where the film was made).
I don't know, she looks a bit like the freshly graduate gorgeos young woman who are so much too perfect that they are annoying. My own idea was that Nimbus III was such an unimportant an assignment that the Romulans definitely weren't going to send their best ambassador there. IMO, Dar was appointed as an ambassador more because of her looks rather than any diplomatic skills she possessed; she was eye-candy to placate the Federation and Klingon ambassadors there.
^I've never seen the deleted scenes for STV. Does she talk in her normal voice, or is it still dubbed over?
Such a typical thing to say about a woman. "She ain't much but at least she's purdy." Ugh.A more revealing outfit, such as the ones Bill Theiss used on the old show, might've made the character more palatable.
Not a name I was overly familiar with in 1989.^I've never seen the deleted scenes for STV. Does she talk in her normal voice, or is it still dubbed over?

Indeed! Not even cheesey costumes and over-the-top make-up could hide the fact that underneath it all was a stunner ...She made a gorgeous Romulan woman.
I think she's hilarious with John St. Talbot.
I liked that she was a Romulan without idiotic forehead ridges.
I'm willing to bet more people were reading Dr Spock, than watching Mr Spock.
