What's the problem? It's standard for new releases to have a gradual rollout.

Look at most movies: first they're released in theaters, then 6-8 months later they're released for purchase as physical media, 1-2 months later they're available for streaming, then finally a year after that they're shown on TV.

This is the way studios work so they can make more money from the same product. This isn't CBS doing something crazy or unusual, it's the business model of the industry.

In Germany movies are shown in free tv usually after 2 years.

You're correct, it turns out that my timeline was abbreviated compared to the typical release.

    From Wikipedia:

In fact, Star Trek (2009) waited almost 3 years before being shown on free-TV. It first aired February 2012.

What is up with the audio sync issue on the special features on the last disc? Its pretty screwed up.

Nice seemless transition on Chain of Command. It also helped part 1 too, in that the one film really did help bring both episodes together in terms of continuity. I think I like this one as one episode now rather than the first episode meeting Jellico and then the second episode torturing Picard.

Maybe I missed this earlier in the thread, but what's up with the smiley face Picard's drawing in "Timescape"? It's almost completely invisible! In fact I had to rewind a few seconds just so that my wife could see what that scene was all about. Why did they turn up the contrast so much? Or is it just me?

(Another thing about the episode itself: Why is the warbird vanishing in the end? They said those lifeforms nesting in the warbird's engines were from "another time" or some such, but certainly not the ship itself nor all the Romulans onboard, right? But it gets even curiouser, when in his log after the warbird's disappearance Picard is telling us how they evacuated all the Romulans. From where?)

^Yeah, I just got done watching "Timescape" and thought the smiley face looked very faint as well. Other random observations:

-When Picard enters the rear of the runabout and and starts using the computer before he touches the fruit bowl, you can see the long nails on his hand already.

-When they first beam onto the bridge and Picard is at Worf's station, you can see the Romulan behind him blink several times.

-At the end of the episode when Riker visits Data, you can prominently see two velcro squares on the front of Riker's pants.

It's always surprised me that the rear of the runabout set never showed up on DS9. From what I can tell though, the bunk beds were reused in the Defiant's crew quarters.

Yes, the boosted was a little too high for that shot. I was able to clearly see it though. If it's nearly invisible for you, then your TV's contrast might be too high.

The same thing happened in "Tapestry" with the scenes with Q and Picard in the bright white room as well.

No probs with that here, you definitely need to look at setting up your TV properly. Check out something like the Disney WOW disc, which helps you set things like brightness and contrast.

This has nothing to do with TV settings, this is comparing the new blurays to the originals. Both of these scenes have some definite contrast variations.

Whether it's due to the limitations of SD or an artistic choice they may for TNG-R can be debated.

Granted, doing a direct comparison between the shots in the two episodes, the differences aren't as noticeable as I had expected. Perhaps my memory deceived me.

Well isn't that just a kick in the gentleman's vegetables; Amazon UK's price never dropped below £50 (approx. 63 euros)!!

Still I was rather pleased to get home yesterday to discover Amazon had delivered my copy of season 6 on a Sunday!

Until I saw it in hi-def I hadn't realised how little the night dress Troi is wearing in Man of the People leaves to the imagination. ;)

Usually I'd say that we always get ripped off in the UK, but aside from the Italian sets, the French and German copies are nearly as expensive. Even the Canadian dual English/French season 6 was $110 Canadian Dollars from Amazon. Made my eyes water.

Now, on the other hand, the Italian season 5 bought from Amazon Spain is 26.49 EUR (£21). The UK season 5 is £41.75 from Amazon.co.uk. :klingon:

Patience is a virtue, my dear fellow. It also results in much greater value. I've picked up the first 5 seasons for about £150. I always said I wouldn't buy these Blu-ray sets for more than £25 each after paying £50+ for the DVD sets back in the day. I'm paying a little more than £25 for the majority, but not much more. My bargain was Italian season 2 for £18.

A bit off-topic and I'm not advocating it, as it is morally wrong, but with this kind of tiered regional pricing, release windows, and all that jazz, sometimes you sort of see where the pirates are coming from.
