The Walking Dead Season 5

Not that the following is a surprise, but in a recent interview with Norman Reedus....

Are there any episodes that fans will freak out over?

Yeah, there'll be several. I can’t tell you if or who would die but it is "The Walking Dead," we sort of have a track record of being fearless when it comes to that sort of thing. Grab your tissues

Okay, who bites the dust in season 5? I hope its not the long-expected Carol or Beth; both characters went through advancement in season 4, so it would be too predictable (of all TV, to be honest) to build up, only to kill them off.

Maybe the producers will have stones enough to bump off fangirl favorite Daryl....

Count me as a fangirl then, because he's my favorite character, and I'd be bummed to see him go. Not that I'd stop watching or mind if they handled his death well, I'd just miss his contribution to the cast.

Does this trailer kind of undercut any sense of dread the ending of last season left us with? I mean, where they left off, they were locked in a train car and about to be BBQ'd one by one until they made their escape, but then this just shows almost everyone negotiating with the cannibals and grudgingly joining forces with them to head to DC (obviously things break down along the way). Don't get me wrong, it was a great looking trailer with some nice scenes and action, I just think it gave too much away, like most likely the entire basic outline for the season.

Maybe their first victim was going to be the guy who knows how to cure the virus. After the team explains the situation, they could be set free. The people in Terminus are probably only cannibals because of lack of options.

Thin--if that is their excuse. Further, if the Terminus gang join Rick's crew on their journey to Washington, what are they going to eat? We know Rick's crew arrived with few supplies and Terminus....well, is Terminus. Will some of Rick's crew be held at Terminus as an insurance policy?

Wonder what Beth has stumbled into.

Looks like some sort of hospital--or prison complex. The woman attacking Beth is wearing a uniform, so she could work for the kind of "sanctuary" that enforces control the hard way.

Many assumed Beth's kidnapper is the Father Gabriel character; in the trailer we do see a man who could be the Father character--crouched and crying. Tears for past sins? For kidnapping Beth and dropping her off at her new (terrible) location?

Well, the trailer DOES give away a bit--at least I know my favorite characters will make it through episode 1.

I can't wait for season 5! Looks like lots of exciting stuff in store. :bolian:

"They're screwin with the wrong people"

"What'er we gonna do?"

"I tell you what. We're goin talk to them. We're gonna make'em understand. They're gonna join up with us"

"Um, yeah Rick, sure that'll learn'em"

Yeah, that was not the outcome I was expecting from where we left off.

I mean, I'm all for sitting down, talking, and breaking bread with your enemy, but when the "bread" is an arm...

Talking is the only realistic option. Rick's group are pretty much naked without weapons, and cannot pull off some miraculous, improbable escape (like so many bad movies from the 1980s).

Using the show's history, Rick's group are good at hit and run tactics (the rescue at Woodbury), but they are not commandos...at least not yet.

Be that as it may, the trailer really undermines the season finale and pretty much makes Rick sound silly.

I was personally looking forward to Rick's line being followed by some Mike Post montage music as the group uses discarded items in the boxcar to assemble a tank. The Terminites then chase them in jeeps, hit something and do a wicked flip through the air...

^And then Daryl finally comes off those shrooms he "claimed" from that dead member of his last group?

I'm not so sure. According the producers, the season premiere will be a 90 minute, "biggest ever" situation. That can only mean conflict of some kind, not 90 minutes of debate. Some fans--based on the trailer--think the Terminus crew are recruited early on--which would make Rick's final S4 line seem irrelevant, but with 90 minutes to play with, expect some wild, violent events before cooler heads prevail.
