The second of two medium freighter designs. The basic idea is for a long range, high speed Merchant vessel. This is the non-Trek variant. In addition, it has a much shorter "neck". The underside of that neck is where cargo modules of varying sizes and types would attach to the ship.

I tried to show a smallish bridge/cockpit. Still need to work some scaling issues out.

    Nice!

Non-Trek?!? That almost has a ring ship look, which I wouldn't consider totally out of the question for such a vessel, even in the later Trek eras.

Thanks! Yeah, it could probably pass in Trek too. The other variants have warp nacelles, and those are what I had in mind for Star Trek. But the semi-ring could work in Trek also.

Haha! Yes. The blockish/boxy look has a very unfinished look and feel. It occurred to me that a sleek smoothness with curves is almost expected. OTOH it's a space freighter, so I'm not sure. WIP though, so I will try out different looks.

I like the blockish look, it's a bit like the images in LEGO instructions :)

Weird, I don't see any images, or links to any.

Nice. Looks like the baby of the Rebel medical frigate from TESB/ROTJ (EF76 Nebulon-B escort frigate) and one of the robot grain ships from TAS: "More Tribbles, More Troubles" (Antares-type). :)

Thanks! It is certainly not easy to come up with a ship design does not at least vaguely resemble something from one of the many, many franchises, comics, games, etc. Although any coincidental similarity with the Antares and Huron types is probably a good thing, as it would locate it as consistent with the sort of ships you would see in that time frame. I posted these pics in the other thread. I'll reserve future updates here for the non-Trek version, but it's worth seeing the evolution of the design:
