Voyages of the Imagination

Any chance will see an updated version of this book? I really love the original.

It would be nice to get an update, especially considering all of the relaunch titles and interconnected storylines that have been published in the past decade. I think a reference guide for readers getting into the modern Trek-lit would be well received. It would also help sales of other books. I know that this information is available online, but some readers may not visit sites like this forum.

I'd love to see an update too. Although now there are even more sites doing interviews and articles about Trek Lit than there were when the original came out, so I don't see it happening.

Did they ever do an E-Book edition of the original VoI?

I always meant to pick it up but the size an issue at the time.

If not, they could always do an updated edition for E-Book release, but I'm not holding my breath. The Books I always enjoyed were the Reference Books and apparently they never sold well.

As a niche product for a already niche corner of fandom, I'm amazed VoI ever happened. But I'm thankful, it's one of my favourite Trek books.

I'd say no hope of another one, but count me among those who would love it.

It's to bad that the "Official" novel timeline couldn't be updated in a new book. VOI was the last update for the timeline.

Yeah, I would love that too. Would it have to be on an official site? I could see it being a great companion to the reading order guide on 8of5's Trek Collective.

It's unlikely IMO. If they did, here's hoping they would try to get more of the authors to comment about the books. There were a lot of "declined comment"s in that book, about some key novels.

I also remember that the Timeline was also the updated episode Timeline, since the authors had been working with the Okuda's Starfleet Chronology, but since that book hasn't been update since 1996, basically everything past Basics, Part 1 is based on that Timeline.

I doubt that Pocket would ever put out for an updated volume but maybe if the proposal was just to do a supplemental volume that would cover only the books not covered in the original volume.

Yeah, my main disappointment in Vo(t)I is the lack of research. If someone didn't remember something, that was it. It's a shame more interviews or whatever couldn't have been tracked down.

While I understand your sentiment, the book was HUGE. We should be glad it was as full of info as it was.
