If Howard shows up, it's going to be a team-up between him and Billy Koenig for that episode, and it'll be comic relief.

Maybe they can get George Lucas to be the voice of Howard the Duck.

Two words, Peter Dinklage. He'd probably enjoy it too.

    WAUGH!

    Howard with or without pants?

But it won't work unless the team is visiting Cleveland.

    Man-Thing?
I probably wouldn't like a TV version of him though.
Kept at the Fridge cause no one could figure out if he was a menace. Communication issues and all.

Probably not. A good thing Marvel Studios already has a solid relationship with that city going back to the filming of Avengers, then!

It'd be the greatest thing ever if it was announced that an upcoming episode was named "The Man with the Metal Claws". And at the end of the previous episode, someone shows up to help Coulson's team saying, "I owe Fury a couple favors. He told me you guys could use some assistance." And the camera turns to show Hugh Jackman.

^^^ Never thought X-Men and Avengers (or the Fantastic 4 for that matter) were all in the same universe.

Of course the live-action versions aren't. It's just my wishful thinking.

I'm hoping they can be now.

Whilst there seems little interest from the 'suits' in charge of the various studio's that have rights to the Marvel characters to cross license them, a real opportunity exists at the moment to do something less drastic.

The MCU is established as the main continuity containing Marvel heroes. At this point the XMen universe has sort of reset and the Fantastic Four don't yet exist. With a little back room consultation this could be set up so that they can coexist. Simply not contradicting each other is a start. Mentioning other 'superbeings' (no names) as an aside or on a background news report would take it further. This could work with Spiderman too. There would still need to be a little handwaving, but it could work. Just acknowledge that there's other stuff happening and stay out of each others way.

As they couldn't even use the same actor for 'both' quicksilvers, it's unfortunately rather unlikely though...

if they use the same actor (such as Wolverine), but don't make anything that is obviously associated with the character (like mentioning a name, wearing a costume, etc.), that's pass the legal test, I think.

And it'd be a great cameo.

And we could say X-Men is in universe 613, Spiderman in 614, and MCU in universe 615.

Fox and Sony have the movie rights to X-Men and Spider-Man (respectively) but could AoS legally show them on TV? There are other cartoons that featured multiple Marvel heroes.

No, they couldn't use those characters, but an unnamed cameo from the actor shouldn't violate any licenses. Without showing him being telepathic, you could even have, for instance, Patrick Stewart cameoing (shown from the chest up so no wheelchair) as long as he was only referred to as Professor, or maybe Charles.

    But it's pushing it...

I just don't understand how the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon can show Nick Fury and Wolverine (without covering up their history or abilities) but AoS can't.

I'm pretty sure the rights to cartoons and the rights to live action are different. It's like how Spider-Man can be in any video game with X-men characters, avengers, etc. Marvel sold the rights to film (and probably live action in general) but they didn't sell the rights to make cartoons, video games, etc with the characters. While they do license stuff out to video game companies, they keep all the rights to their characters that aren't movie (and possibly live action in general) related.

So, they probably can't even do a spider-Man animated movie, but they can make a animated TV show or video with any character they own. They just sold movie rights, they retain the rights to their characters in most other media, so they can have anyone crossover with every Marvel character they want,or do animated shows about any character they own. Live Action TV probably counts as infringing on whatever rights they sold, but there is a lot of different media you can put characters in, and Marvel didn't just sell the blanket rights to their characters to FOX, SONY, etc.

Exactly. Different licenses for different uses.

What would be really cool in the films would be something like Andrew Garfield going into a shop to get a takeout coffee and holding the door for say Anna Paquin who smiles in thanks.

The scene could be inserted in either a Spiderman or XMen movie, or both. There's no dialogue or identification of characters. It's just a 'nod'.

If only there could be a live-action version of "Avengers Assemble", the series finale of The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, which featured Wolverine, Spider-Man, and the Fantastic Four joining up with all the other primary and secondary Avengers.

Well, that and the timeline would be completely off for a 1970s Quicksilver and a modern Quicksilver.

Although, as I've said before, the X-Men universe doesn't translate well into other universes. It only works when they're literally crossing over. The second they stop crossing over, mutants seem to stop existing in the other universe. The whole sociological commentary that exists in the X-Men universe is undermined by a world full of other superpowered people, none of whom are mutants.

That being said, there was more to the X-Men universe than will be featured in the movies (given the current trend). I wouldn't mind seeing the Savage Land, the Shi'ar, etc. cross over. Even having the Fantastic Four involved with that (both Fox) would be nice.

If it was legally possible, I wonder how the MCU could incorporate the things that are usually associated with the X-Men. Because if Earth's premier supernatural defense organization says "Last year, Earth had a visitor from another planet...We learned that not only are we not alone..." in 2012 and "Coulson, you know S.H.I.E.L.D.'s stance on psychics; They don't exist." in 2014, I think that kind of limits having Shi'ar abduct the Summers, Charles Xavier, etc. Then again, Peter Quill and presumably Scarlet Witch's powers prove that both of those statements were errors in judgment on S.H.I.E.L.D.'s part.
