ODE TO THE BORG

First Discovered by the Hanson's far out in deep space.
They shadowed the Cube for weeks discovering they were not like any other race.
So fascinated by their discovery they followed the cube into a transwarp conduit.
They were not afraid, but little Annika was scared and this whole trip she was not fond of it.
Suddenly the Borg turn on the Hanson's, they try to fly the Raven as fast as they can.
But the Borg are closing fast, and they don't have a plan.
The ship crashes on a remote planet, Annika is scared and hurt, crying for her parents.
But they don't respond and soon she see's shadows, a Dark presence.
She screams aloud as the Drones approach her location.
She succumbs to the the fact that SHE WILL BE ASSIMILATED .

:)

...very nice!...I think yours deserves some theme music! :)

If you were scooping up all the Star Trek books you could find in the pre-TMP era, you remember the two books of short stories edited by Sondra Marshak and Myrna Culbreath, called Star Trek: The New Voyages and Star Trek: The New Voyages 2.

There were three poems altogether, and they were pretty good. They were not too far in style from the work of Soran77 as seen above.

HIjol, STAR TREK-themed poetry requires more effort than the usual post, maybe that's why there are so few entries in this thread? Perhaps if you offered a prize of some sort? I don't know ... an autographed picture, perhaps? Some bait to entice and ensnare these would-be poets with ...

Perhaps the right-brain, left-brain theory is true. That's why there are so few poets among us.

While I admire great poetry, and appreciate good limericks, I was never able to be more than a poetaster, myself. That's why I supplied only a small sample of my prosaic verses, earlier! A poet-friend of mine said my poetic efforts made me "the king of prose!"

Q "Slash" Vash
(AKA "Heart ... and Sol")

'Tis your Q, Vash, so trust in me, just in me
Early Earth's sky is burning and I'm on fire
Giant lizards that lust for flesh so greedily
Posing curiously, 'cause they feel our desire

Surfing in a sea of methane off the shores of Titan,
The rings of saturn all but fill an orange sky
If you think about it, I really am the right man
to release your fantasies, so let's talk "you and I."

Laying here, with you, on these Venus sands
you look so beautiful in that bathing suit
I can see why Earth women love getting tan
This sunset sky does well to suit our mood.

Olympus Mons spewing out lava, steam and ash
on the horizon of an ancient Martian beach
Moonlight on water does so become you Vash
Nothing we want is ever out of our reach.

Diamond "icebergs" floating in a sea of carbon
Who knew that Jupiter could offer such pleasures?
Here, take a piece, for you to wear with pink chiffon
No, don't thank me - 'tis a trinket. You're my treasure.

Now, that is very good Star Trek poetry! Awesome, 2takesfrakes!

Appreciate ya! I keep holding out hope that this thread will pick up momentum, again ... and we start seeing some real Creativity from this crowd!

As do I, 'Takes!...I think your idea of a prize is a good one, and Kayless knows I got enough of them! but the problem is getting them out of the place I currently live, the United Arab Emirates!...let me work on it...

I took a Leap of Faith, ignoring senses, Loving You
A Leap I hoped would bear a Way, a Path that was so True
Two souls adrift, yet anchored to this thing we call Our Lives
This thing that tasks our hearts and minds, and sometimes makes us cry

I think you know the feelings that I have for you are Real
The words bespoke and not, are crafted from that place we feel
The aching part of each of us that calls yet hides in sight
The place we want, and not, and sometimes puts us in a Fright

A Fright of Self, of Giving In to someone else's heart
A Struggle, yes, of trusting, caring, being there...a Part
When I consider what I have and what it is I've done
I want much more, to be a Two, a two that equals One

The beat and time of Life is such a complicated thing
the pondering of the "...does she love?" "...can her heart hear mine sing?"
I send this out to all of you, the pronouns change with each
the HE/SHE, SHE/SHE, HE/HE pales, what matters is the Reach

The reach of Love, the grasp, the very fiber of our beings
The words we choose to chant, recite and put into our singings
Consider what you have inside, consider what you keep
Give thanks that you can make the choice, Decide to take Your Leap.

^ Is that about Saavik taking Spock's innocence on The Genesis Planet? That is my guess, for now. I, myself, have another poem relating to GENESIS. Let me tell you about it! It goes something like this ...

"SPACE SEED"
FROM: David Marcus
TO: Unknown Dad

Father,
I wish I knew who you were.
When you impregnated Mom,
Did you even love her?
Questions:
Am I just a mistake?
Like a clerical error?
Did your condom break?
I know ...
I didn't come from a beaker
Or an unclean toilet seat
Mom thought me a keeper.
Not you ...
One look, and you had to flee
Got in your car, sped out of town
doing a hundred and fifty.
Unfair ...
Other kids know their dads.
I didn't even get cards
for the birthdays I've had.
Science ...
Made me a Momma's Boy.
Another crazy torpedo
that she wants to deploy.
The Cards:
Mom and me play Bridge
other boys go on dates
But I'm mommy's appendage.
Relate:
I watch TERMINATOR 2
Pretend I'm John Connor
And Schwarzenegger's you.
The End:
Before you go in the lava pit
Now, Dad - you know why I cry
Mom finds the remote and grabs it ...

I've decided this thread is a nice storage place for my Trek poetry I've dribbled out over the years. I just found this one while searching for a photo I remembered being posted. Someone started a thread called "Vorik the Pon Farr Vulcan" and it inspired me to write this beautiful poem about one of VOY's worst eps.

Vorik the Pon Farr Vulcan

Vorik the Pon farr Vulcan
Has a very shiny "nose"
And if you ever saw it..
You would even say it glows

All of the other crewmates
Used to laugh and call him names
B'Elanna never let poor Vorik
Join in any bedtime games

Then one special Blood Fever eve
Klingon Pon farr came to stay..
"Vorik with your "nose" so bright
Won't you glide your "sleigh" tonight?"

Then how B'Elanna loved him
As she shouted out with glee
Vorik the Pon Farr Vulcan
You'll go down.. well you get the picture

There once was a man from Riverside
He joined the academy with pride.
He cheated, it's true,
The Kobayashi Maru,
And Starfleet still gave him the Enterprise.

:p

This is a poem I posted a couple years ago answering the oft repeated question, "Why did Lien leave Voyager?"

A Borg! Braga cried,
I shall not be denied
Some cyber perfection
And sweet misdirection
From the pedestrian twaddle
Of this Delta space waddle

The Powers That Were twirled their pencils and grrrred.
A girl then, if you must, and cast for the bust!
And that boy whatshisname, kick him to the drain
He's constantly late, hell he's sealed his own fate.

But the People said STOP!
Have you numbnuts not seen?
Why he steams up the screen!
The most beautiful man
That ever has been.. well one in 50
But that's still quite high
Really, we cannot let Harry Kim die.

CHORUS

Really we cannot let Harry Kim die!
Really we cannot let Harry Kim die!
Really we cannot let Harry Kim die!

(repeat to the whining of a clarinet, warning may cause ear bleeds)

Lien cried, Lien wept as they dragged her away
Braga's door slammed on good manners that day
No letter was sent, not even a card
The arrival of 7 had turned his heart hard (and other organs)

And so Voyager lost the good and the sweet
The kind and the curious, the gentle and meek
And we had to adapt to great slash and great breasts
Yet the debate rages on as to which is the best.

What People say...what People do
Confuse and throw me...how 'bout you.
They seem invested in a thing
But then retreat and take to wing

Support and Unity...hard to find
Lies, Deceit abound in kind
Caring for ourselves and Species
Not so much with Thiefs and Leeches

Even Here, in all our Posts
When the words should matter most
Some just fire off a missive
Not reading threads, so sad, a Given

If we took the time to say
"Hey, your idea is ok!"
"I just do not agree with you."
"And here is what I think is true."

Let's all agree to be respected
Insults, Rudeness not accepted
Points of view abound like stars
Hear Each and Every One of Ours

What say you? :)
