Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

Quite true, I was suprised to receive the issues as its usually at least this coming Thursday when the first one is due out. Makes me wonder if they are as organised in distribution as they should be.

So the UK is now 5 ships ahead of the US? They were only 3 ahead until the US shipping dates got moved around.

The UK is 5 ahead of the US, and the US hasn't even been charged for the Stargazer & Vor'Cha yet. When are they thinking to charge us for the JJprise as well? It's been out for like 3 months already in the UK. If I wanted to I could order it from Big Bad Toy Store and have it in a week if I wasn't going to get it cheaper from my subscription. Though if I could find a way to negate the shipping cost, it would be cheaper than my subscription...

I am disappoint.

Was there really only 3 issues in it between the UK and US releases? I swear I had Voyager before I started seeing folks post about getting the 1701-D in America.

On the Nebula class is it the same sized saucer section as the Galaxy class?

And is the Krenin Time Ship the longest model or is that the Enterprise E so far?

Yeah, the Nebula's saucer is the same sized as the Ent-D, exatly the same really besides lack of impulse engines at the back, and the colour is a bit different I'd say its more like a blue-gray.

And yes the Kremlin is just a bit longer then the Ent-E and I think its the longest so far.

I'm liking these Eaglemoss models so far. They're a big help in my 3D model building, along with some of the Hot Wheels and Johnny Lightning miniatures I have.

From Eaglemoss, thus far, I have Enterprise refit, Enterprise D, Akira class, U.S.S. Reliant, U.S.S. Defiant, U.S.S. Excelsior, Romulan Warbird, and K't'inga class Battlecruiser.

The detailing on the ships are fairly nice for their scales, and some of the Fed ships even have the pseudo Azteca styled hull painting on them....most notably the Reliant and the Excelsior on the saucer sections.

I wanna get the Ent E and the Vor'Cha class attack cruiser.

The magazines that accompany each model often have some funny typos in them (and I'm not referring to the differences between English and Americanized spellings....those damn Brits never have learned how to spell "ionized" or "accessorized" or "colonized" or "maneuver"..... I keed....I keeeeeeeeeed. :) ) No, I'm talking about actual spelling errors, or even historical inaccuracies. (In one magazine, when talking about the timeline in Star Trek VI, the writer says that Praxis explodes, and then two days later, McCoy and Kirk are arrested, charged with assassinating the Klingon High Chancellor.....LOL! I think that should've read "two months later". :) )

The magazines don't offer much in the tech side of Trek, probably a bunch of stuff that either has already been disclosed before in other publications, or stuff with uncertain canonicity, especially when it comes to ships that never have even been released as models before. Some of the "behind the scenes" production info for the ships is really interesting, especially about the Excelsior.

The Krenin Time Ship, the only thing that might kill Cthulhu
F'tahgn!!!!!!!! :)

You know, I think most Starfleet crews would be able to mentally survive any Eldritch abominations (if the productions had had enough money for make-up effects, they'd had run into one every week). Hell, I think regular people today could, we're probably more open to terror beyond imagination than people from the turn of the early 20th century.

Anyway, this next week the US subscribers should hopefully see charges totaling around $80. If I guessed correctly we should all get the Stargazer, the Vor'Cha, the JJprise, & the 3-nacelle Enterprise-D in the following 2-weeks.

Looks like they got their info from Flashback instead of the film itself.

is the krenim temporal weapon ship more of a 'must-have 'item for a voyager collector than for example USS Relativity or USS Prometheus? if so for what reason? :)

I was just charged for the next shipment. It was just the standard $39.90, so it looks like we're at least still waiting on the JJprise.

Also, a look at the Krenim and Nebula

I was only charged the $39.90 as well, so it looks like I guessed wrong. US subscribers should still be getting the 3-nacelle Enterprise-D though, as this will be the 10th shipment.

I wonder what the big hold-up on the JJprise is? The UK got theirs months ago when they got these ships. Thinking back to when the US got DS9 however, Eaglemoss didn't charge my Paypal in one big lump sum. They took it in two payments taken within a day of each other so we will see.

I have the sneaking suspicion that Eaglemoss can't secure the rights to the nuTrek ships. For the US territories, that is.

Truth be told? I hope they don't.

Hot Wheels has put them out in a similar size. We don't need them here. It's nice to have some memorabilia like this for the shows we loved.

There are only a handful of nuTrek ships anyway.

hp lovecraft...dreams...sleeping in light.
Looking at my krenim time ship,it looks a bit like what would happen if babylon 5 was re-imagined.since it sort of looks like what would happen were Babylon 5 were modifiied with vorlon technology. That front cover of issue 22 also suggests this.

The fact that issue22 and the model are actually about the vessel that appeared in the year of hell is an added bonus :)

The magazine on page 6 states ''In many ways the Krenim temporal weapon ship was the most powerful vessel ever encountered by Starfleet.'' [sic]
Is this the official CBS view or is this statement non-canon?

In either case, its pretty much the only conventional weapon depicted in the Star Trek universe that can wipe out an entire species in a single shot. The Borg could assimilate Earth, or the Planet Eater could destroy it physically, and there would still be millions of humans on other worlds and ships. If the Temporal Weapon ship got in firing range, humanity would never have existed. You're not just killing every human alive, you're re-killing every human who ever lived. That probably is the greatest threat the Federation ever encountered.

Regarding the Nebula class: Is it just me, or did Eaglemoss completely give up on most of the detail inside the phaser ring on the dorsal side of the saucer? Of all the goofs to date (I've tolerated them all), I'm not so certain I can forgive that one. I even got over the ventral docking arms on the DS9 being jammed inward.

Honestly, I don't care much for NuTrek ships either. I would like the special issues to be spacedock, K7, Regula 1, drydock, and other non-ship space installations.
