TNG Comic Relief

I don't think I've ever seem them shoot from outside the observation lounge windows before

I've seen that video a few times, and I love it every time. I still love Worf's face when Geordi mentions the polyester blend.

I've always admired Trek's use of comedy. Being influenced greatly by Shakespeare, they were always good at injecting moments of levity in to serious situations. That they took the time to make a short like this one and didn't take themselves too seriously is truly endearing and refreshing.

I still have my VHS recording of the original airing somewhere around here :bolian:

There is a shot is S1 Lonely Among Us shot from the outside

:klingon: "Who-Pie?"

>filming from the outside

Probably was a way to use the set without spending time and money on special effects and other setups, plus makeup and costuming if done while a regular episode was being filmed so all was in place.

Not unclever.

Definitely clever. Kind of a very cost effective bottle skit, using the set to add sci-fi effect. I'm sure the natural inclination, being Star Trek, would've been to try to shoot something on the bridge, but this was a much smarter use of their existing resources

Thanks GNDN. I'd never noticed that before. I can see why they didn't use that shot much. Looks too much like a staged set rather than a real ship. It worked very well in the skit though. I think they even lit it better

^Well the beginning did include a scene on the bridge. I kind of want to know the story of the two officers who took over for Worf. For a split second, I thought they were going to the be the focus of this skit.
