Or when John Connor thinks it's the same Terminator he lowered into a steel mill. Even Forest Gump would have been smarter than that.

I guess most of them have to do with contradictions made in Origins Wolverine and First Class, since those are "prequels" to the traditional three.

Then it's strange to say that there are "Plenty in just the first three films to begin with". I took that to mean errors arising from just those films taken in isolation.

First thing that comes to mind is Patrick Stewart walking in Wolverine Origins when James McAvoy got paralyzed already in First Class.

In X-Men, Xavier is confused how Magneto can shield himself from Cerebro, but in First Class, he sees the helmet and knows what it can do.

There's probably a lot more.

Those are problems created by First Class.

-Sabertooth appearing as both Wolverine's half-brother, and as an unrelated mutant (i.e., a much more in depth difference than simply an actor change).

Since Tyler Mane's Sabretooth was never established as not being Wolverine's half-brother, this isn't really a contradiction. His appearance is obviously quite different, but there could be various ways to explain this. Basically "a mutant did it".

-Emma Frost

Never called Emma Frost in the film.

-Wolverine having memories of Japan in the 40s, despite losing his memories in Origins (and having them mostly lost throughout X/X2/X3). Maybe he's been regenerating them, not really explained.

Well, we know that Xavier had been helping him to some extent in that area.

I don't think they ever called Tyler Mane Creed or Liev Schreiber Sabertooth did they? If not you could probably just write them off as similar, but different, mutants.

Sure, I made a mistake. Let's go ahead and crucify me.

They're just films. I already said that the problems are created by different writers on different films.

I think that is a bit of "letting the student do the math"

I think that is a bit of "different writers writing different movies set in the same universe".

Of course.

But, in universe, you have Xavier, showing the effective new guy, Logan, the ropes of being a proper mutant and then showing him the use of Cerebro. To which Logan quips "why don't you use it to find Magneto?"

"He seems to have found a way to shield himself..." is a nice way of putting what he really should have said.

Just rewatched this last night (getting ready for DOFP, doing a marathon). Totally forgot that Logan gets his adamantium claws chopped off!! I wonder how they're going to deal with this in the new movie. Even in the teaser scene at the end in the airport, he has bone claws.

FWIW, the promo posters show Wolverine with adamantium claws in the present, and bone claws in the past.

Shouldn't it be the other way round?

Technically no, because the "past" in DOFP is before Weapon X, so no adamantium at all.

As of the end of The Wolverine, Logan still has the adamantium skeleton but had his claws cut off, and he regrew bone ones.

They were finally yanked out by the roots, and regrew afresh so he could have them recoated at any time, Xavier may have connections that would allow it.

Do we have any good quality screencaps that show them extended in the "present" of DOFP?

They were actually cut off right at the aperture from his wrist. The cuts revealed a cross-section of the bone underneath, and Yashida looks like he's extracting Logan's healing factor from his bone marrow.

I don't have any screencaps, but the images I'm talking about are from the promos. We'll really just have to wait to see the movie to see if it's even addressed. Here's one:

I rewatched X1 last night as part of my own lengthy, spread across the week, marathon of the X-films. I hadn't watched it in a good 4-5yrs(the OT in whole really) and I feel that overall the f/x, pacing and tone really hold up well.

X2 tonight

I agree. X2 also held up well, especially when you watch it already knowing the plot of Wolverine Origins.

I rewatched Wolverine Origins, and it's comically bad as I remember. Really glad they followed up with a decent Wolverine film.

Next up is "First Class", my finale segue into the new film. Hard to believe there are already six entrants into this series, and DOFP is the seventh.
