In all seriousness, obviously the uniforms exist for purposes of maintaining discipline and establishing rank and such, but I think the modern societal taboos associated with Nakedness (or, indeed, almost-nakedness, like the "I've got nothing to hide!" TMP uniforms) would not exist in Star Trek's future. People on the Enterprise just don't notice the Decker-unit, or Ilia's cameltoe, or Lieutenant Uhura's frequent panty flashes in TOS, or whatever else. They aren't hung up on such things.
I don't care that much about humanity's future happiness with nakedness. But you've got to work with these guys.
Imagine you are sitting in navigation and Decker sneaks up behind you(he just blends into the background beige) and you just turn around and you're literally face to face with his lack of underwear.
Bad enough if it was the handsome Decker but what if it was some old ugly Admiral. No. No. No
Going back to the jumpsuits and going commando ...
Looking back, this would have been a golden opportunity for the costume department to invent the sports bra and "invisible" briefs available today. Just think, Paramount could have made a fortune on the design patents.
Instead of having Decker's Willie out there for all to see, they could have been making millions on marketing "invisible underwear."
But seriously, they could have put the jumpsuited men in jockstraps, or dance belts, or something.
I don't know about anyone else, but I like my junk supported, not flailing about like a tree in the wind.

Well, of course it still goes on during the TNG era. Why do you suppose it is that Riker does that move so often to people like Data and Ensign Gates, hmm?

Absolutely. And since we have absolutely no idea what humans of the real 23rd century will be into, clothing-wise, all we have to go on is what we like right now.
As for the "everyone walks around naked" thing: Pass. That may have worked with Gene Roddenberry's "new humans" thing, but not Starfleet. It would just look silly.
New Humans might get away with being naked all the time because of that New Age-ish groupmind philosophy that they're into, but Starfleet officers are supposed to look professional at all times.
And for all they know, they might run into aliens who react with shock and horror at nakedness. 'Course, aliens could also do this with people wearing clothes, but I'm sure that's much less likely. You don't see many naked alien space fleets, do you?

This would take a ton of work, but I would love to see a TMP test scene with the TWOK+ uniforms grafted onto the cast. Any takers?
Actually, we've seen the TWOK costumes for so many movies, I would prefer the reverse.
TMP uniforms in TWOK.I remember jackets at the end of the movie that went over the uniforms that looked to be directly for the cage.
To me, any time there is a Time Travel episode, those should have been for the far future, with ST II uniforms coming after TNG, were I to adjust the timeline of uniforms.
The TNG Nemesis movie uniforms are the worst, to me.
Actually, we've seen the TWOK costumes for so many movies, I would prefer the reverse.
I don't think I want to see anyone over the age of 40 in those TMP outfits.
