While Captain America and the Agent's of S.H.I.E.L.D deal with the big stuff at the moment, let's take a look at the Marvel One-Shot features.

Which are your favorites and why? Vote for 2.

The Consultant: Basically exposition by Coulson and Sitwell about what was up with the General Ross/Stark scene and what the real purpose of that meeting was.

A funny thing happened on the way to Thor's hammer: Coulson gets a little side tracked at a gas station and shows us why you better don't mess with him.

Item 47
: Agents Sitwell and Blake deal with the aftermath of the Battle of New York on the relatively small scale when confronting a couple of robbers who got their hands on chitauri tech.

Agent Carter: Life isn't easy for female agents after WW2. The solution to sexism and mobbing at your workplace? Pull bad ass spy stunts and found your own super secret espionage organization.

All Hail the King: In the newest installment we get a comical insight into what the Mandarin aka Trevor is up to... in prison.
While he has a nice and comfy life there with his own personal fan club among the inmates, someone is not pleased by his recent identity theft...

All Hail the King by a mile. It starred a major actor, it was hilarious, and it undid the bastardization of the Mandarin in IM3. Perfection.

I don't even remember the Thor's Hammer one :wtf:

Something Funny Happened... is the only one I've completely seen. Because of that, I'm not going to vote.

For those who don't remember it, here it is. It's the first time Coulson gets to be truly awesome:

ETA: I didn't realize there's a Roxxon Corporation reference until right then. Very cool.

Item 47 is kinda pointless in hindsight.
"Let's introduce these new characters and have them join SHIELD but you'll probably never see or hear from them ever again."

All Hail The King was fun, but again, will we ever see what happens next or see the "real" Mandarin? I doubt it.

First off, LIES, Coulson was always awesome, especially when he threatened to taser Tony and watch Supernanny as he drooled onto his carpet. What's more, he's a total asshole here, wisecracking at the terrified cashier and leaving before the cops show, thus putting her in very real danger, seeing how scared stiff she is. It's the least awesome he's ever been, with crap Guy Ritchie action direction on the side. Easily the worst one-shot to date.

Item 47 doesn't sit right with me, either. Those two endangered a lot of lives by fooling around with their alien gun; they deserve to be jailed, not made SHIELD employees. Also, SHIELD has the authority to protect criminal suspects like that from US police? Uh, what?

Agent Carter is okay, but marred by the fact that Carter wears high heels on her solo outing for no reason.

The Consultant I like fine. Haven't seen Hail to the King yet.

Considering what we know about the nature of SHIELD by now I am not surprised they hired thugs to figure the alien tech out. They probably never really were SHIELD and just got put on the job to help HYDRA.

I liked The Consultant and Item 47. The Consultant put a smile on my face for that thing I waited after the credits for and Item 47 makes a lot of sense. Someone could easily find a Chitauri weapon after that fight.

I chose Thor's Hammer and Item 47. Those two shorts are the reason we now have the awesomeness that is Marvel's Agents of SHIELD. Thor's Hammer made my job drop at how awesome Coulson really is.

Also, the person who hired them was Agent Sitwell who is a known HYDRA agent. They've been hired by HYDRA, not SHIELD.

And they were recruited by Sitwell!

Let's expand the conversation a little. What characters would you like to see get the One-Shot treatment?

I would vote for Howard Stark. There is so much untold there. Early days of SHIELD. The early arc reactor he built with Vanko was, in retrospect, obviously an early attempt at recreating Tesseract energy. Why was he so aloof as a father? And why was he...

...targeted by HYDRA?

Lots of story potential there.

The One-Shots correspond more or less with the previous movie.

So the next one would be linked to Thor 2.

Maybe we get a Warrior's Three adventure?Did we even see them anymore after they help Thor and Loki escape? Or Heimdall?

Personally, I would live to see a War Machine skit, CG and everything.

Was Tom Jane's Punisher skit a Marvel One Shot or is it only for the MCU?

^ An unofficial One-Shot, maybe, though IIRC it wasn't labeled as such.

I'd like to see a Betty Ross One-Shot, because Liv Tyler. Her character requires closure, dammit! :p

^Pixar should so get involved with Marvel. I would love a Howard the Duck movie, featuring the Marvel Universe.

No chance that he'd be a reoccurring character in Agent Carter? That seems to be the better vehicle.

I'd love the Warriors Three next time. Seems like lots of good opportunities there.

Sure, it's kind of a open secret that both Dominic Cooper and Neal McDonough will at least appear in Agent Carter. But what I'd like to see explored about the Stark character would go beyond the scope of a series set in the 40s.

Well, I'm hoping the series will have significant time jumps, for what it's worth. I want them to work with Hank Pym in the 50s or 60s, for example. Maybe each season can be in a different decade?
