Resurrection - Season 1 Discussion Thread (Kurtwood Smith, Omar Epps)

Re: Resurrection - Season 1 Discussion Thread (Kurtwood Smith, Omar Ep

Not sure Guy...it also seems to take elements from highlander (sensing another "immortal").

But me & my wife are digging the series...some great performances, and not over the top stuff, so we can enjoy it with the family.... (But we have to do On Demand -- maybe not so much with Walking dead off for the season)

Re: Resurrection - Season 1 Discussion Thread (Kurtwood Smith, Omar Ep

I have a feeling the "explanation" for what's going on will be a lot less interesting than scifi fans would hope. The show hasn't really advertised or catered to that type of audience much yet, it mostly seems like they want to take a more spiritual, emotionally touching approach, with sort of a "it doesn't matter why, we just need to have faith" kind of attitude. I hope I'm wrong and that it turns out to be something really awesome, but from the way they've played things so far it doesn't seem likely. I guess we'll find out.

Re: Resurrection - Season 1 Discussion Thread (Kurtwood Smith, Omar Ep

Really? I can see that, but if that priest wasn't going to defrock himself before his girlfriend came back from the dead from doubt, then it's inevitable now that his religious certainty is shattered once he starts up with the zombie adultery.

Re: Resurrection - Season 1 Discussion Thread (Kurtwood Smith, Omar Ep

There has definitely been some great acting. I had never heard of Devin Kelley before this series and have been impressed with her.

On the other side, Omar Epps is just brutal. He just slows down every scene he's in and I can't decide whether the Bellamy character is supposed to look down on the townspeople like their inbred hicks or if that Epps being a poor actor.

Just a side note: why hasn't Bellamy's superiors dragged his ass back yet? He's an immigration and customers officer and really has no reason to still be there. It bugs me.

Re: Resurrection - Season 1 Discussion Thread (Kurtwood Smith, Omar Ep

Well...maybe Omar Epps is channeling his character from House? i think there is SOME "looking down"...or at least suspicion. His cop instincts are supposed to come into play.

As for Be;amy..well, from the previews, evidently, things will come crashing very soon. We know his boss has been covering for him for at least a few days.

Solving the mystery, and saving the kid might have been what was driving him up until the second when he met the girl.

He's not leaving till Maggie decides to leave with him.

I missed the second episode. What was in the coffin?

You are not wrong, unless they stop following the book the series is, but is not, really based on then we will never know. In the book I guess it's not really addressed.

I'm hoping they are clones and we get an Orphan Black crossover.

Everyone of the secondary main characters on House is a horrible actor. They should never work again, they are making what's her name from Once Upon a Time look like an emmy winning actress.

I missed the second episode. What was in the coffin?

The kid's dead body was in the coffin.

Re: Resurrection - Season 1 Discussion Thread (Kurtwood Smith, Omar Ep

The body was in the coffin (to be tasteful they never 'showed' it, its ABC after all), Bellemy cuts the tag off of dead Jacob's shirt. Later, he compares the tag to the shirt tag alive Jacob was found with. Despite some fading over 32 years the tag with the name Jacob written on it is completely identical to the tag on the shirt Jacob was found with.

So there is an exact duplication of the body and the cloths on the dead person from right before they were buried or cremated (Kaleb). The tag scene kinda rules out genetic cloning because of the exact duplication of the cloths etc..

if this were Star Trek TNG... some body beamed the body out and did a transporter duplication (Second Chances) , put the duplicate back in the coffin. Though modern medicine brought the person back to life (The Neutral Zone) and kept then in Cryo or could be just using time travel! HA LOL

Re: Resurrection - Season 1 Discussion Thread (Kurtwood Smith, Omar Ep

I have a feeling we're headed for one big "circle of life" revelation

People die in the water and get reabsorbed through the tree

The leaves(People) float away and land becoming a person again.

Re: Resurrection - Season 1 Discussion Thread (Kurtwood Smith, Omar Ep

All 3 resurrections have involved the river I think. The priest's girlfriend when off a bridge, just not sure if it was a bridge over that same river or not. It is inevitable that Jacob's aunt will come back at some point as well.

Re: Resurrection - Season 1 Discussion Thread (Kurtwood Smith, Omar Ep

I believe she already is back, because if you remember she tracked down her mom's lover, he then went back in the house and said THEY'RE ON TO US or THEY KNOW or THEY FOUND ME or something like that.

I think it's "They've found us". ANd what you said makes sense. Everyone appeared "3 days" ago, so it's possible she went to him first, and he revealed what happened.

Wonder how many more will resurrect, and what exactly happened with Kaleb. He appears to know more than Jacob & the girl.

Re: Resurrection - Season 1 Discussion Thread (Kurtwood Smith, Omar Ep

I'll throw out the theory that people come back and get a second chance. Caleb wasted his chance, so he gets re-killed.

Re: Resurrection - Season 1 Discussion Thread (Kurtwood Smith, Omar Ep

She's a little girl, not being offensive, but she is little, and using an axe is hard work.

I'm not saying that she couldn't have cut through the porch, but it would have taken a very long time.

When in all likelihood, she could have just crawled under there through some tiny maintenance door.

Re: Resurrection - Season 1 Discussion Thread (Kurtwood Smith, Omar Ep

Tonight's episode is just... "ehhh". I stopped caring about the characters and situations. It feels like the show takes plus in a bubble. No one has internet? This would be all over the media.

Re: Resurrection - Season 1 Discussion Thread (Kurtwood Smith, Omar Ep

^^ I can't help but think that too, along with Bellamy's superiors just leaving him out in the field for this long on his own on what was pretty much a favor asked of his supervisor. The press in Under The Dome was there within hours. After a week and CNN isn't even on the scene?

The way things are going, I can see Kurtwood Smith and Frances Fisher standing on their porch while their home is surrounded by angry townspeople with torches and pitchforks. There was comments made by West Virginians after a Criminal Minds episode a few weeks ago which focused on in-breeding in Wheeling. How do the people of Missouri feel with Arcadia portrayed with a bunch of close minded, yokel sounding townsfolk, who take an unexplainable event and turn it into "The Demons must be sent back to hell!" Part of me wishes this took place in some kind of lab or something, mainly so there would be more focus on the actual mystery and not the fear of the most stereotypical town on TV.

For example, the pastor's wife. Pastor Tom was deeply in love with this girl and she drove herself off a cliff. Was it expected that he would just get over that and move on with his life? And she's pregnant? That's also now his fault for something he had no idea about years ago? She makes it sound like he was booking the plane ticket to run off with this girl, which was not the case at all. But she doesn't give him two seconds before starting with the "Woes me!" shit!

And the inbred cousin of the guy Caleb murdered now has a little militia and he's going to kill off a pregnant woman out of fear? Somehow he'll be justified because he sent a demon back to hell!

Sometimes I wish I wasn't interested in how the mystery because the rest of it is such dreck.

Re: Resurrection - Season 1 Discussion Thread (Kurtwood Smith, Omar Ep

It was like "We had this great idea to get you to feel for the story and the mystery.... but now we throw that out and make lame stereotypes".

Orphan Black greatly expanded their story lines by the end of their super short season. This week it felt like the writer's room went "How do we move the story forward?" and another went 'I know! Let's give some characters we have never seen be religious nuts and start to fracture the town lamely!"

The show would be better if there was a dome.

Honestly they have a good setup and are just blowing it.

Re: Resurrection - Season 1 Discussion Thread (Kurtwood Smith, Omar Ep

Stop talking about under the dome.

I still think if we ignore it, that it won't come back.

Re: Resurrection - Season 1 Discussion Thread (Kurtwood Smith, Omar Ep

For some of the past episodes when it showed the preview for the next episode it would use an extended promo. I believe in one of those it appeared we saw Rachel's body in a hospital/morgue and then her voice saying something like "So I died?"

I'm wondering if she gets killed by these hicks and then makes a second return.
