I thought Frozen was excellent, but I'm still surprised by its success.

Same here. I watched it and really liked it, but the success it's seeing is insane! I don't mean that in a bad way, just, it's surprising how wildly popular it has become.

Well it's my new favourite animated film, not surprised at all how popular it's become. :D

Just seen it and loved it.

The central characters were all immensely likable and full of personality. Even Olaf (a goofy sidekick character who actually made me laugh... and loudly).

While I'd say Anna is the most enjoyable character in the movie (full to the brim with personality), Elsa is by far the most interesting. Before everything gos to hell, she's practically on the verge of an anxiety attack. Of course it was pretty obvious their parents were making a huge mistake from the get go.

I'm not normally one who likes musical interludes (I know, why am I watching a Disney movie), but they were exceptionally well done in this, mostly because they segued organically into the songs which actually helped tell the story. Helps they were good also.

Oh lordy, I'm critiquing a Disney movie and taking it seriously...

Fully deserving of it's praise in my opinion.

    Interesting Fact:
Elsa toys are insanely popular, while Anna toys don't appear to be selling as well. The Wal-Mart toys department I work at has had a few Anna dolls for a while now, but I haven't seen any Elsas. I've had about 5 or 6 people looking for Elsa in the last week, all of whom left disappointed.

Yes, I'm surprised by how much I liked Olaf. When I first saw him, and heard that headache-inducing voice, I was sure I would hate the character. But I didn't. Not only did I find him hilarious, but I really cared for him as a character and sympathized with his plight.

    Well done filmmakers. Well done.

It's amazing to think how different this movie was when they were still in the early stages of making it (and how much better it is for the changes). Olaf was a very different character, a rejected prototype created by villainous Elsa for her snowman army, and because he wanted to prove he could be a good soldier he was trying to be tough and kind of mean a lot of the time. Whenever he came up, Jennifer Lee (writer/co-director), who had just been brought in, kept writing 'Kill the F'in Snowman!' in her notes. So they went back and thought about what snowmen actually represent and that's when he got his origin in Anna and Elsa's childhood.

Spent the day with a friend going around the city trying to find him a copy of the film, 4 major DVD retailers later they were all sold out of it. BR they still had, 3D-BR quite a lot, but not one DVD.

Desolation of Smaug they had plenty of but then it was early on the release day.

    Gotta be the dress.

My daughter has the Disney Store ragdoll versions of both, but because Elsa had the fancy dress she ended up being her for Halloween - before she'd even seen the movie.

Just had a random thought reading this. Remember the little boy from Iron man 2 with his costume mask and gauntlets?

"In this corner: Pretend Iron Man!

In this corner: Pretend Snow Queen!

Pretend ice powers versus pretend repulsers! LLLLet's get ready to rumblllllllllllle!"

Actually, I think that Frozen is a good (I haven't seen it yet, am only judging what I've seen in the video posted here)
magical mutant person story, and nothing else.

Speaking of superheroes and animated CGI movies...
