Who will die next in The Walking Dead?

Who do you think won't make it out of Season 4?

After last night's episode, I kinda want to switch my vote to Tara. Her arch is complete (get Glenn to Maggie), she has a new lease on life, and she keeps tripping.

Though my Beth vote could win if they're doing another Sophia and she's already dead.

After last Sunday's episode my money is on Maggie. Burning her picture was a bad omen.

I voted Daryl, purely for shock value. He's in a group that's hunting for Rick. They find him at Terminus and due to their rules will allow him to go if he beats one of them in a fight to the death. Daryl claims it and lets Rick kill him for the good of the group.

Not a chance. If Daryl were to go bye-bye, the show would lose 20% of its female audience.

On the other hand Kirkman said during a chat on Reddit that no characters is too popular to die.

Q: How does popularity, if at all, effect the survival rate of characters? Have you ever killed a character just because they were popular and you wanted to shake things up?

A: In my opinion, I feel like characters ripen like fruit. So while I wouldn't say the more popular a character is the more likely they are to die, they do have to reach a certain level of popularity before they've "earned" the death. No character is too popular to die. (Suck it, Reedus!)

Q: Is Rick Grimes a "safe" character?

A: ABSOLUTELY NOT. Although when I look in Andrew Lincoln's piercing blue eyes I FEEL safe.

I agree that no one is safe on this show, but since they want to keep it going, I am not so sure that they would kill off Rick or Daryl....simply because they were/are more popular than say Herschel was.
I don't want to see Daryl and Beth hook up! I think their relationship is more brother-sister than 'lovers.' Therefore, I wouldn't want to see Beth die, and because she seems to be carrying the moral mantle left behind by Herschel....
I like Carol, but her arc is pretty uch done, so she is my likely candidate to die first. Although, Tyrese is running a close second, and then say, the Bob/Sasha/Tara group next.
Although....in reality, I think one of the group that Daryl is with right now, will be the first to go. IMO-Daryl is just using them to reach Terminus in hopes of reuniting with his Rick and co. (but the sh*t will hit the fan when they all meet up I am sure)

Kirkman can say that all he'd like but he still has to report to the executives at AMC who write the checks. There is a great article here on why Reedus surpasses Lincoln as TWD's most popular character. To summarize;

1. Daryl is like the Fonz
2. Norman Reedus in real life is like Daryl
3. Daryl is the bad boy with the heart of gold

But most importantly,

4. Women swoon for Daryl, and therefore he keeps and brings in a critical demographic for the show.

I suppose Trek tried the same strategy with Tripp or Connor Trinneer but Tripp was never the bad boy with the heart of gold.

Yeah right.:rommie: When was the last time they killed a character that was really popular with the fans? No one really cared about Sophia, Shane was semi popular but also a villain, Dale was a bug eyed moron and I don't remember him being popular, most people did a happy dance when Tori and Andrea died, T-Dog and Herschel weren't unpopular but not fan favorites, the governor had overstayed his welcome.

Daryl is too popular to die, he's safe. I also wouldn't be too worried about Carol, Maggie and Michonne. Glenn could go but I think Rick is the most likely to be killed off if they really want to shock the audience.

I'd just be real sad to see Beth go. There is just no one right now who can infuse that moral & faithful Hershel influence better, at this point, and the show needs that.

Agree 100%. The series cannot function on everyone being "whatever it takes"/depressed or morally vacant. Beth is definitely cut from her father's cloth (more than Maggie), and it would be too predictable/cheap shot to kill--once again--the one person talking about faith in the ZA world (like Hershel before her).

Likewise, losing Melissa McBride would be losing the best actress the show has maybe ever had

True. She has overcome her feelings about Karen and David, while with Tyreese, she shares responsibility for the decision to kill Lizzie. She is a stronger character, and can serve a different purpose other than to die sacrificing herself, or in a senseless way. She is an anchor of the original Atlanta group.

People that shallow could easily be distracted by someone else.

And Reedus isn't really like Daryl.

Ya know dude, I'm betting a lot of women would be pissed off by that comment. Men watch many shows for the same reason and we don't have to look any farther than Star Trek for proof of that. Can ya say Jeri Ryan:

Sadly, I'm getting a sinking feeling about Beth's disappearance & it maybe being connected to the creepy Terminus possibilities. Basically, if you wanted to trap people for eating, the way whoever got Beth did it would be the optimal plan

Beth is too young, she's around 16 at the most I think.

Also Daryl and Carol is the real power couple on the show. Even if he seems to be still messed up from his childhood to deal with intimate contact.

There will be a riot, but that would be a hell of an ending for a season.

I never would have thought of Daryl and Carol as a couple in that way until reading the posts here at TrekBBS. I always felt that it was more of a mother-son kind of relationship between them, even though they aren't that drastically apart in age it just sort of seemed like that caretaker dynamic to me. Seeing them be intimate would seem icky to me for that reason.

Aww. I like Daryl & Carol. However, of the two, I think Carol is the one who has come "full circle," as it were, so I wouldn't be that upset if she kicks the bucket. Her story-arc is kinda complete so it would be a good time for her to go out.

But Daryl??? I'll flip the fuck out if he dies.
