Doctor Who set/on location reports thread

That's Peter AFTER his first cuppa in the morning. Before, he's even angrier looking.

More seriously though - where's his slightly-out-of-place shirt?

Mark

He's been seen in his first variation of his costume for a week or so

You know things are probably serious when he switches over to the dark shirt

Crap's going down

Oh no, we can see flaws in the suit of a Doctor Who monster! That has never happened before in fifty years! Head for the hills!
Well we've not seen anything this bad in the past 9 years. We shouldn't be comparing new monsters with classic series monsters, the classic series to most is laughable. We don't really want to go back to laughable monsters, hammy acting and wobbly sets do we? By new standards that's just awful that costume.

"You can't run from me anymore"
Looks awesome, nice and dark looking! Much more like I was hoping for! I really hope his white shirt is less common, that's when he looks at his worst.

lol. Lets hope he keeps it up. ;)

It will be interesting to see this dark look. I guess that started with Matt at the end of his run. Even Jenna's clothes look dark. Personally, I liked 10 and 11's first look, I guess 9 was dark but since his clothes were more casual it seemed a bit different.

Does that include the Absorbaloff?

I honestly don't see the problem. It looks fine to me. And of course a candid photo of a costume is not going to look as good as what we see in the final episode with proper lighting and camera angles and editing and whatnot. The costume itself is just one part of the equation, and I'm sure plenty of the past costumes on the modern series would have visible flaws or seams if you looked at them from the right vantage point or in unflattering lighting.

A comment from Lis Sladen a few years ago... she liked the Zygons as they looked convincing fromall angles.

More detailed photo of said monster.

I dunno, not that silly. No worse than some of the creatures in my old copy of Barlowe's Guide to Extraterrestrials. And those were all based on respected SF books.

Agreed, not silly at all. Actually looks fairly cool and unique (at least to my eyes).

Mr Awe
Looks better than the Nucleus of the Swarm. The old series has some truly dodgy monsters. The new series hasn't produced anything as silly as the space prawn, yet.

It's almost as if everybody has put the "Fat Bastard" monster out of their memories. You know, the monster from "Love and Monsters" that looked, acted, and sounded like the Austin Powers villain Fat Bastard? That was only in season 2 of NuWho.

No, not all of us just a select contingent. I'd also like to point to the Slitheen aired costumes.

C'mon, I mentioned it...;)

You even used it's real name!

Yeah the notion that that new monster is the worst of NuWho is frankly ludicrous. And actually, all things considered, I think the worst monster of NuWho hasn't even been a man in a suit, it was the terrible cgi Mark Gatiss Thang from The Lazarus Experiment.

I wish the Draconians would show up in the new series. I've always thought they were worth revisiting, and have a cool design that would benefit from more modern prosthetics technology. I'd also love to see more of the Robots from "The Robots of Death," with the original design unchanged (though improved in the execution).

On the other hand, a couple I wouldn't mind seeing brought back with a better redesign would be the Wirrn and the Rutans.
