Star Trek 3: Classic Trek or original story?

Do you know what? I wouldn't have a problem with that one bit

although it was abit of a fun story now i think about it neither would I..:rommie:

Gorkon/Worf could oppose Chang/kruge.

khan would be full on 'wrath of khan' khan out for revenge

everything more 'ST Movie' looking in regard to the uniforms, sets, ships, mushroom spacedock etc as itd be set 5 years plus after STID

plus plenty off cameos for the 50th:

Bakula/Spiner as Archer/Soong in an 22nd century Augment opening, or library footage that kirk spock check out to help with khan(maybe even on a holodeck sim to These are the Voyages.. fooling the audience type thing) maybe Spiner as the nut who wakes up Khan (as Arik or Noonian Soong)

Stewart as grandfather Picard (see Generations Picard/Troi scene for potential profession)

Nimoy in something more than phoneaSpock duty. returns to his home timeline?

and Shatner in a fanpleasing end cameo as old Pine Kirk (not Prime Kirk) maybe with old Quinto Spock (something like Cloud Atlas)
Stephen Collins as Matt Decker (father of his character in TMP, hed be older than Matt Deckers supposed to be but then so was Greenwood as Pike)

Dorn as Worfs grandfather (same character he played in VI but younger. hed be under a ton of makeup so age wouldn't be a problem)

and 1967 Montalban in a CG cameo (like 1984 Arnie in T4, Young Bridges in Tron2) in a flashback showing the end of the Eugenic Wars/Botany Bay/Revival and how he came to have his face changed (currently being explained in the IDW comics)

SCollins approves:
RT @AvP2015: @StephenCollins @NBCRevolution would you play Will Deckers father Commodore Matt Decker in ST3 if the opportunity arose?

Is there some character in front of the RT indicating approval? It's just showing up in the tweet as an empty box for me and as unrendered Unicode characters here.

star trek 3 story ideas

Ok so i just thought of what i think would be perfect story idea for star trek 3. Since this is going to be the last movie in the trilogy and the 50th anniversary why not have the enterprise encounter a temperal anomaly in deep space (like yesterdays enterprise) and then go back in time where kirk is faced with the decision the prevent the uss kelvins distruction and save his father therefore restoring the timeline or to keep the current timeline. They could also find someway for the klingons to be involved (remember in the comics they captured the narada shortly after the kelvins distruction). Kirk could even say goodby to pike because he was an officer on the kelvin something he wasnt able to do in into darkness. Lastly they could have spock try to return to the prime timeline while ships from the prime timeline help escort him back. there could even be a easter egg where the enterprise d is seen in the background. Please reply about what you think of my idea or any story ideas of your own!

Re: star trek 3 story ideas

I'd really like them to get away from time travel and alternative timelines and the like. I'd like a story with a little more imagination than that, something we haven't seen umpteen-thousand time before.

You need 3 things....
1. A godlike alien who is a kid who is stiled when others of his kind step in.

2. A computer for kirk to talk into destroying itself

3. Human looming aliens or possibly transplanted humans noddles after an earth timeperiod or primative bliss...

So...the E finds a planet of space hippies living at peace under a computer which controls the planet. Stagnation occurs. Kirk talks the computer into destroying itself. Godlike alien (Apollo/trelaine) comes in angry his experiment/worshippers interfered with. Battle occurs. Power generator destroyed. Parents come and take godlike alien away.:guffaw:

THIS :techman: No more time travel stories ... PLEASE!!!!!!!

^Seconded. I've more than had my fill of time travel, and I don't want a return to the prime timeline either. It's dead and never coming back, I want the franchise to look forward, not disappear back up Rick Bermans arse.

People are talking about a possible Klingon conflict. I say bring it on. As long as it has an intelligent story woven around the conflict, like the Undiscovered Country for example, then I think it will be great.

A clip show?

I'd like to see the beginnings of a war with the Klingons (aftermath of S31's meddling), with Kirk & Co. riding to the rescue with a bunch of action packed diplomacy and stuff. And maybe a handful of tribbles.

I really enjoyed STID but I think they need to be more original, John Harrison could stand on his own quite easily witohut the Khan stuff.

They're afraid to make a script without a bunch of rehashes and references to paleo-Trek. They think the established ST fan base won't like it otherwise.

Paramount has done market research to determine what needs to be in the movie to maximize its appeal to as many different demographics as possible.

Statistically speaking, space movies featuring earth perform better than those that don't. Therefore earth will most certainly be in the new film. Surveys of the general public show the main criticism of ST is that it's "boring," so STXIII will be action packed, BUT they don't want to offend old-school fans, so they'll have a long check list of references to TOS, TNG, & even DS9 worked in to make sure they're appeased. And don't forget Klingons and Borg. They're some of the most popular ST adversary's, so they'll surely be thrown into the script some how.

It will be one massive mashup of mediocrity, just like everything else that Orci has ever put his hands on.

So you're bashing Orci for delivering the scripts that Paramount wants? Seems to me if someone hires you to do a job and gives you a checklist of things they want done, you do it. Or you won't be working for very long.
