If it gets to complicated, we just have to create the "The Almighty Star Trek Lit-verse Reading Order Flow Chart" Reading Flow Chart.

It's strong. The Vulcan's Soul trilogy sets up much of the Romulan politics we see in Taking Wing, and the epilogue of the final book directly references the Titan events. The trilogy shows Rehaek and Torath taking control of the Tal Shiar, Tomalak making a move towards becoming politically visible, and Neral's final attempt at reforms before being deposed by Hiren, which is mentioned in Taking Wing. Zife and Azernal feature, and the new aliens, the Watraii, will be mentioned in A Singular Destiny and Typhon Pact. Also, Scotty references SCE stories from time to time.

If there's room to squeeze in "Vulcan's Soul" trilogy in the Titan backstory box, alongside Rogue, Gemworld, The Sundered, etc, I'd recommend it. :)

The thought has crossed my mind to do a few single series with immediate connections versions.

I nearly added Starfleet Academy to that box this time too, for Pava backstory. Maybe I'll give in to that thought on the next iteration.

If nothing else, No Time Like the Past fits in the crossover section since it is at the very least a crossover with Voyager.

I'm a regular io9 reader, but they've just upgraded their software again and now it isn't getting along with my Opera 12 browser. And I don't want to upgrade Opera because apparently the newer versions have bizarrely stripped out a lot of the functionality of the old ones.

And is No Time Like the Past going to be added to the chart?

No. It's not connected to the ongoing continuity in any way.

There are a ton of crossovers that aren't in the crossover column - Invasion, Federation, No Time Like the Past - because it isn't trying to be all-encompassing. It's trying to indicate connections that might otherwise be difficult for a reader to determine.

Anyone looking at that novel on amazon is going to see that it's a standalone crossover featuring Seven of Nine. Anyone looking at Typhon Pact: Seize The Fire isn't, for instance, going to know that it takes place between Synthesis and Fallen Gods. So that information is on the flowchart.

Now, if the next Beyer Voyager novel has a long speech from Seven about this one time she met Jim Kirk - yes, we would add No Time Like the Past.

The new version of the chart is awesome. Thanks for the work. And congrats on the io9 article. I like io9 a lot and think it's cool they are bringing attention to another site I like a lot.

Now for someone to draw ships from the novels.

I think publiusr meant ships belonging to classes we haven't already seen, like members of the Voyager slipstream fleet.
