FLASH series being developed for The CW

The overly superhero-y stuff (i.e., random lightning bolts) perhaps could have been done without. But, to me, they fit Barry Allen's character as it's been established so far. So I think it's ok overall.
I'm hoping this turns out to be an early version of his final look. The leather look doesn't seem to match the material of the outfit in those 1st two released pictures. Maybe he starts out channeling the Oliver Queen look a bit.
Then later, he'll wind up in something...flashier.

It doesn't look too bad but I think it would have looked better if they had carried the smooth part on his chest all the way through his midsection to join the belt, just leaving the textured part on the sides.

I don't know why they're doing the muted colors - felt the same way about the "Man of Steel" suit.

I can see it for Arrow where the hood is ostensibly camo - does the Flash need to hide in some way? Does Superman?

Yup. The way the show was shot the suit tended to look fairly dark as I recall. I'm really going to have to re-watch it one of these days.

I agree it might be a bit over-designed, with a few too many strange design elements thrown in. But overall I think it still works pretty well.

And let's face it, coming from the Arrow team, this is about as "superhero-y" as we're probably ever going to get.

^It's worth pointing out that, now that Oliver has started wearing a domino mask, his costume is quite close to the version the comics' Green Arrow sported starting in The Longbow Hunters.

Oliver's costume has its roots in what he wore on the island. The greasepaint/mask was for practical purposes.

The 90s show had the suit be the only clothing that wouldn't disintegrate when Barry ran that fast. It was originally a Russian deep diving suit at S.T.A.R. Labs, wasn't it? I forget why they added the symbol and headgear 'wings'.

I wonder what the justification for the "bangles" on this Flash costume will be.

(not that there need be any)

^Yes they did, police scanner and such so Flash could hear what was going on. I am ok with the suit right now. Lets hope the rogues get some good looks as well.

Now I see where Tom Welling's position on a costume was coming from.

Might grow on me, it does have an old-school pulp look to it.
