KISS Won’t Perform At Their Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame Induction

^ But the difference there is, Lee/Lifeson/Peart is the only famous Rush lineup. Nobody cares about John Rutsey, do they? So as far as most Rush fans care, L/L/P is effectively the only lineup Rush ever had.

In KISS' case, though, the Frehley/Criss lineup is not the only famous one. KISS has continued to be just as famous to this day, no matter what lineup they have had.
 
And they remember drummers other than Peter Criss as well.

I don't. Then again, I probably wouldn't remember Peter Criss if it wasn't for Family Guy.

KISS is getting inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame because of their most famous lineup. That's when they had their greatest success. I have no problem with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame wanting that lineup.

I should point out that nobody has required Kiss to perform with their original lineup, RARHOF have requested that, but they have not barred Kiss from performing with whatever lineup they choose. This is always the case with these performances.

Kiss never wanted to perform at all, they are on record as having dissed the HoF many times over the years. This is just an excuse to throw their toys out of the pram, nothing more. If they wanted to perform with their current lineup, they are absolutely free to do so.
 
Yes, IIRC. Blondie performed with its current line up rather than the classic one. There was a bit of a kerfluffle about it too.

What does KISS have against the Hall of Fame?
 
Yes, there was a bit of a kerfuffle because Nigel Harrison and Frank Infante were invited and recognized, but weren't asked to play onstage, then Infante used his time at the microphone to try and force the issue, which was refused. They weren't original Blondie members, FWIW, but were part of the most successful Parallel Lines, Eat to the Beat, Autoamerican lineup.

To me the most memorable example was Creedence's induction, when Stu Cook and Doug Clifford sat in the audience while John Fogerty played with an all-star backup band.
 
I think Heart and the Red Hot Chili Peppers did it right. Last year Ann and Nancy Wilson played with both their old line up and new on different songs. RHCP invited anyone who was ever in the band to play with them for their induction.

The current members feel that they were snubbed in years past, so now they don't want to be inducted.

As I've said, personally the RRHOF council should have stuck to its guns and not inducted these losers (the stage costumes and act were done better by Sun Ra, Parliament-Funkadelic, Genesis (Peter Gabriel era), Hawkwind, and any other progressive band who used a fantasy theme.) These people are nothing but a grand marketing scheme writ large (as well as being the heavy metal version of your typical pop boy band because of said merchandise) and are Doodlebops for adults.

So now the RRHoF has KISS and still no Moody Blues or Smiths.

Don't weep, just realize what a hollow "honor" it has become when so many good artists are arbitrarily "out," and dismiss the Hall for the out-of-touch, self-aggrandizing irrelevancy it has become.

Maybe the RRHOF feels that the Moody Blues are mediocre?
 
The Moody Blues are a great band. It's also hard to argue that they weren't a significant commercial success and influence, given the caliber of their hit songs. "Nights in White Satin" and "Tuesday Afternoon" aren't even necessarily their best songs.

The classic lineup will get inducted no matter what because the band doesn't have to agree to be put in the Hall of Fame. This doesn't really change anything from how it is now.
