I don't suppose the Magnajector opaque projector made the list, but those things were ubiquitous when I was a tot.

Alphabet Blocks - YES - wooden blocks have been used for centuries but it wasn't until 1693 that philosopher John Locke suggested that the alphabet should be added to them
Rocking Horse - YES - established as a child's toy in the 18th century.
Jump Rope - YES - ancient
Jack-in-the-Box - YES - probably dates back to the 13th century
Marbles - YES - they date back from between three and a half and five thousand years ago but it wasn't until around 1846 that German glassblower Johan Christoph Simon Carl Greiner invented 'marble scissors' which made glass marbles cheap and easy to make.

Ever since, the Sea Monkey consulate has called for my indictment for the massacre. Fortunately, the extradition laws are ... dubious.

Its probably not on the list but I remember one from when I was a kid .
it was a car that ran around on a flexible track that was just a tube, every so often it had a spot where you could flip the car by squeezing a ball that would activate a ram and flip the car off, but for the life of me I can't remember what it was called.

My personal favorite from early childhood...a talking ALF doll! I somehow doubt that is on the list.

As far as I know Chutes & Ladders is just the American equivalent of Snakes & Ladders. I hadn't heard of Snakes & Ladders until I started posting on this board and someone from Europe mentioned it.

Also, I find it interesting how so many of these toys were created in the 1950s and 1960s. I wonder what it is about that time period that encouraged the growth of the toy industry.
