...or you know, you could just do the common sense thing and wait to see the movie before you condemn it.

What am I saying? That's madness!

I would guess he's playing somebody's son, and that he kills his Papa in the third act.

After watching Hayden Christensen stumble through two consecutive films with the emoting of a William F. Buckley, Jr. saddled with jock itch I think we can handle Driver in whichever villainous role he's given. I'm giving him a chance.

We won't get to see him emote. He's playing 3p0 gone bad. Turns out that not getting droids memory wiped every so often does have it's down side.

I don't think Weaving and Driver were up for the same part.

He definitely looks like a villain.

Interesting casting choice. I've only seen him on a few episodes of Girls I watch - in which he is by far the best thing on that show (ironic that the male lead is the most interesting talent on a show called Girls about 4 girls).

It made me wonder if he might be a younger character who turns to the dark side?

It's possible that you are correct, however, I was basing my comment on this quote:

I really need to come up with a Palpatine "I feel your anger" threadbomb. I might never actually use it ... but it'd be therapeutic to look on it once or twice an hour ...

Yeah - sorry to over-react - it's just it feels like Lucas has been pushing the CW down our throats for more than a decade.

    It's DONE.

Actually, Lucas hasn't been pushing anything down anyone's throats. Sure, following the prequels we had a popular, successful series called The Clone Wars. But no one was forced to watch it. And those that did, by and large, enjoyed and appreciated its exploration of the Star Wars characters. Besides, I honestly don't think we'll see a whole lot to do with clones (unless they go the Palpatine route - and then SW fandom might literally implode from the PT theories that will be revived). But to completely ignore the Clone Wars would be to ignore more than half of the saga (considering it's explicit mention in ANH).

This is probably not the right thread for this, but Aaron Allston has died.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

That's a shame to hear about.

As per Lucas "forcing content down throats," he's done nothing of the sort. For all of George's faults and shortcomings over the years I wouldn't ascribe "forcing content" whatsoever, as the Clone Wars series had an organic audience that grew over time and wasn't forced like Alex DeLarge to watch it with their eyelids artificially pried open. People geniunely enjoyed and appreciated the show and its increasingly interesting writing and it gained a significant following among the SW fanbase and probably more than a few people outside of it who came to like the Lucas universe for the first time because of The Clone Wars being on their television screens every week.

He didn't even force DVD and BluRay changes on us. They're his movies and even if we thought the alterations he made were dumber than dirt coated with Stupid Sauce nobody was forced to buy the new discs nor accept the newest edits as their favorite versions. I've given my fair share of criticism over the years when it comes to George Lucas and his decisions with his films, but in no way was he forcing fans against a wall and blackmailing or coercing them into accepting content they didn't like.
