Dr Who- Day Of The Doctor Collector's Edition

Just a heads-up that the BBFC have certified a bunch of extras including the cinema intros, for a bigger rerelease of the Dr Who 50th Anniversary special.


So those of you who didn't see that coming and bought the bare-bones one got fucked again...


Also certified are The Science of Dr Who, and Dr Who- The Ultimate Guide. Whether they'll be included in a set with the DOTD Collector's Edition, or released separately, isn't clear yet, but since they were anniversary shows I'd expect they'll be in the same box as the 50th.

I figured this would happen. Not that it matters because I haven't bought any of the new series sets. Still working on the classic series releases and I haven't been doing that as much as I use to because I've been focused on Big Finish audios instead.

I certainly hope it'll be included and I don't think it would be very marketable on its own, although I'd buy it.

Only sensible reason not to include it would br rights/contract problems (like Dimensions in Time), with everybody doing a silly bit of fun for Pete without signing for any later reuse.

I haven't bought the first one that came out. I'd still like it, but the high price turned me off. I mean, it's roughly the same price as one of those half-season sets of Series 7! That's a hefty price for a single episode, 50th Anniversary or not.

In this day and age of constant DVD releases, anyone who chooses to buy a bare bones DVD and then either complains or is surprised that a new edition with more extras that comes out, should be shot.

It's their own fault for buying bare bones if they wanted something that had more.

Well, good for you that you have a deeper understanding of how DVD releases work . As far as I know the original DVD of DotD isn't "bare bones". It comes with mini-episodes, trailer, a documentary and backstage footage. From my point of view it is indeed a surprise that there will be another edition released. They could have announced that earlier.

Ah well, I wondered if this might happen. If it's got content on I really want, then I'll probably pick this up, but I might wait for the price to drop. I'm not too bothered about having picked up the original release already (which was hardly bare bones anyway) - it only cost 6 quid, less than I'd spend on a night in the pub.

Personally, I don't mind bare bones stuff. Generally, I only watch extras once anyway. It's the movie or the show that I'm interested in.
