To the OP: Buy yourself a McDonalds cheeseburger. Take it home. Eat the cheeseburger.* Crumple the wrapper up into a ball. Throw it on the floor in front of the cat. The cat will enjoy having a new hockey puck/soccer ball and will happily bat it around.

*You may want to share a small bit with the cat, if he/she happens to like cheese or hamburger.

"Da Bird"...

Reminds me of that gag from Warner Bros.' animated short, "A Tale of Two Kitties" (which incidentally debuted "Tweety Bird"). The stout one of the pair, modeled after Lou Costello, shimmies up a telephone pole to snatch the fledgling (first depicted without feathers). His partner on the ground, patterned after Bud Abbott, repeatedly calls to the first cat to, "Gimme' the bird! Gimme' the bird!!!" At which point the Costello homage turns to the camera and breaks the fourth wall to say, "Oh, if it weren't for the Hayes Office, I'd give'm 'the boid'!!!"
