Star Trek: Section 31: Disavowed - Dec. 2014?

...Wha...?? (from David Mack's blog)

David Mack said:
The second tome slated for a one-way trip to Pulptown is my tale of the Mirror Universe revolution, Rise Like Lions. This is the novel that earned the UnrealitySF “Best Story of the Year” award in 2011 and spent two months on the Locus Bestsellers list in early 2012. It represents the culmination of multiple story arcs I had set into motion in the Mirror Universe, and it will serve as the setup for my upcoming Section 31 novel, Disavowed, coming in November 2014.

Pocket's release schedule for the whole year was updated a few days ago, read here. According to it, this novel is indeed the November book, meaning its release date will actually be the end of October.

 <-- My reaction to what David Mack said on his blog.

 <-- My reaction to David Mack's post above.

Wow, that's a shame. Is this due to lack of sales?

That last bit about RLL is very interesting.

Sort of glad I bought those two books by David Mack and have in my collection if they are heading to be pulped. Had a moment of doubt regarding my recent love of Kindle too and wondered if I should go back to 'real' books if they have an uncertain future and become collectable. But it was only a moment's doubt until storage considerations kicked in. :)

I'd love if there was a followup to the Mirror Universe storyline.

We know that Memory Omega operated clandestinely in other universes and that at least one of their magnificent jaunt ships was lost in the primary universe. It piqued the interest of the Confederacy, and maybe others as well.

Well, I'm glad I saw that news about Rise Like Lions. The Mirror Universe books have been on my "I'll get to them eventually" list for a while now, but after finding out it was on its way to pulp-town I ran out to my local B&N to grab a copy. They didn't have one in the store (not surprising), but fortunately they were able to order it for me. I think they only had one copy left in their warehouse.

While I was there I saw that they did have a copy of The Sorrows of Empire in the store, so I went ahead and bought that, too. Just to be safe. :techman:

It doesn't take long these days (it seems) for books to get remaindered if they are not best sellers.

I'd sort of guessed the former, but not the latter. When did one of those Commonwealth ships ever wind up in the RU?

Until I looked at it, I wasn't aware Rise Like Lions had links to The Soul Key! And RLL was done 2011, well after the time jump forward - gives me reason to suspect that, somehow, the Ascendants story will get completed.

^ All the Mirror Universe stories published since the Glass Empires anthology have been connected through shared continuity. In fact, Rise Like Lions was written not only as direct sequel to the expanded version of The Sorrows of Empire and the subsequent tales in Obsidian Alliances, it also was plotted to tie off dangling story threads from nearly a dozen short stories in the last MU anthology, Shards and Shadows.

I'm there for anything Section 31, but until Disavowed is released, you've given me a nice list of books to hold me over.
