Worst TV Seasons of 2013

Which seasons of television do you consider to be the absolute WORST of last year?

The first of my list is Dexter Season 8. It breaks my heart when a show that had such a great beginning like Dexter ends up with a largely disappointing end. The worthless subplots, the boring Big Bad villain, Deb's unbelievable change of heart about Dexter, how they turned Hannah from an unpredictable, intriguing character to an one-note zombie. I wish Dexter's final season had reached the dramatic heights of Breaking Bad's final season or come close to it.

The second on my list is most of White Collar Season 5 that was aired up to that point because of the damage it's been doing to the Neal-Peter friendship. The forced drama, the regression, the out-of-character moments. Here's hoping there's a Season 6 that completely outshines this season and reminds us the viewers what made the show so good in the first place.

The third and last on my list is most of How I Met Your Mother Season 9 that was aired up to that point. All I'll say is that season defines DRAGGED OUT.

Homeland. They took this wonderful show and made it to the point I almost fell asleep in episodes 5 and 6. I never bothered after that, but I know how it ended and all I could was "What's the point?".

It's either S8 of Dexter, which was just stupid, or S6 of True Blood, which both incredibly stupid and completely batshit insane.

I don't know if people here care about Nurse Jackie, but after so much development during season four, season five was a total letdown. I think the loss of Eve Best ensured that the series lost the wonderful Jackie/O'Hara rapport.

I also agree with the lack of love for Dexter and Homeland. Dexter ended on a whimper, and Homeland meandered off into dull soap opera territory.

I totally agree with you about Nurse Jackie. Season 4 was such a high point of the series with Jackie finally taking responsibility for her actions and doing the work to change for the better. Season 5 betrayed all of that. Season 4 should have been the end of the road for the show.

That's the problem with all of Showtime shows, the network just doesn't know when to call it quits. Homeland should have been a miniseries. Weeds should have been three seasons and done, then maybe a spinoff. i have no clue what they are doing with Californiacation.

Season 6 of True Blood and season 3 of Homeland, with the exception that I already disliked season 5 of True Blood, so I wasn't too surprised with the race to the bottom. Homeland on the other hand was a greater disapointment.

You and I are of one mind.
