Episodes where we see Data exploring a new region?

Hi all, I really love Data. He's my favourite character in all of Star Trek. Could anyone list a couple episodes where we see Data exploring a new planet or new area? I love how he analyses things so logically.

I'm not sure how Data would do this without a ship, exactly.

But you did put me in mind of something close: Why did we never see Data exploring a new religion? I mean, I know why from a meta, outside-the-show perspective, but it certainly seems like something he would have dived into a bit at some point if he was exploring the human condition to try to be like us.

Then again, maybe not. After all, he KNEW his creator, personally.

I've been watching quite a bit of Gomer Pyle, USMC lately, and it oddly ocurred to me that Gomer actually has a lot of Data-like characteristics. Gomer, in his simple, somewhat idealistic view of the world, has the capacity to see things as they really are in spite of the emotion and cynicism that surrounds him. And in turn, has the capacity to influence others by his presence! Both characters have unique value!
