I encourage people who tried SWTOR when it first came out to give it another go, it is much closer to Knights of the Old Republic now. Many of the painful time sinks are gone and stupid mechanics removed or changed. It is now possible to play through all of the storylines solo (if you so desire). For those not familiar with the game, there are 8 completely different storylines for levels 1-50 (1 for each class), 2 storylines from 50-55 (Republic/Imperial, Rise of the Hutt Cartel Expansion), 1 storyline from 55-60 (Shadow of Revan expansion). SoR concludes Revan's story from Knights of the old republic.
They've also added Galactic Starfighter, a starship based PvP system, and Strongholds (housing).
Right now they are also running a 12x experience promotion for subscribers. This allows you to play all the way through the game playing only the main story missions. They've also boosted the rewards to allow you to be able to gear appropriately with the accelerated leveling.

In October they will be launching the 3rd expansion which will be free for subscribers, "Knights of the Fallen Empire"
