Gal Gadot cast as Wonder Woman In ‘Batman Vs. Superman’

Maybe you shouldn't make assumptions. I've obviously seen MoS, I've said so in that thread and I'm pretty sure you could understand that I've seen it just from my posts in this thread. I saw it as soon as I could get it from the library, the same month as the DVD release, I think. It was extremely mediocre. Better than The Dark Knight or TDK Rises, and not outright horrible, but mostly an extremely mediocre experience, with a few completely horrible moments like

My apologies than. My point still stands though. You keep saying she won't be a good Wonder Woman just because of her appearance in a F&F film, but how do you know that?! There are plenty of actors/actresses I think stink it up in a certain role then turn around and knock it out of the park with another. Perhaps Gadot can end up doing that as well? She's obviously enthusiastic about the role and I think she deserves the benefit of the doubt right now.

Good lord, we haven't even seen her in costume yet!

Given the changes in the Krytonian outfits in Man Of Steel, I'm really looking forward to the Batman and Wonder Woman outfits, I imagine they too might look more like armor as well.

I don't get it. No matter what body type she has, she is going to be a million times stronger than a mortal human woman of the same body type. So what the hell is the problem with suspension of disbelief here? No matter what she looks like, her power is impossible to achieve by a human woman that looks identical.

Same thing with Superman. Sorry, no matter how big his muscles are, Henry Cavill can't lift an oil rig, ahnd Christopher Reeve couldn't lift a helicopter.

No!! The voice of common sense!! On the internet!?! Flee! We must flee!!

I'm also interested to see what design they'll go with. The WW outfit is pretty iconic so I can't imagine they'll change it too much, and since she's not a Kryptonian they won't be stuck with that design scheme.

I wonder if anyone would be bitching had they cast Kimberly Kane as Wonder Woman :p She sure does pull off the look extremely well, not much of an actor though...but then that's not why they pay her! Hey-oooo!

How big exactly are you expecting her to get? Most martial artists and stunt people, who are probably the closes to a real world image of a superhero really aren't very big at all.
Dayna Chiplin (Legend of the Seeker, Underworld, Spartacus)
Alisa Hensley (Chuck)
Chloe Bruce (Thor: TDW, Kick-Ass 2, World War Z)
Jessie Graff
(Sons of Anarchy, Leverage, X-Men First Class, Castle)

Neither are gymnists:
Simone Biles (All Around Gold Medalist - 2013 Wolrd Championships)
Kyla Ross (All Around Silver Medalist - 2013 World Championships)

So she really doesn't need to get that much bigger if she wants to be able to fit in with these kinds of athletes.
I didnt notice any videos. But, since they can't be clips of WW (unless they're the Lynda carter version, and I've already said she was defiantly not the right size) its not relevant. I've seen clips of gadot, if thats what you mean. The clip from F&F where she basically uses her body to get something, and another where she's basically throwing herself at Vin Diseal, really showed how she played a character that is basically everything WW is not. While that wasn't the big negative against her it showed the role she's most well known for playing (and probably fits her acting talents the best) is really the anti-wonder woman (generally speaking).

As for WW's size, she should be defined enough that she'd look at least a bit out of place as a model. Not body builder level, or even close to it, but obviously an athlete over someone whose main goal is to look attractive. Something closer to how Gina Carano looks in most pictures I've seen, although there is room to be a bit less. She should look like she could kick the average guy's ass, even without super strength. Gadot isn't anywhere close to that, and she's not going to magically become that.
Each of those underlined names is a link to a video. No they're not of WW, they do show that you don't have to be huge to do impressive stuff. Just watch them!

Warner Bros. should sue to stop Kimberly Kane's porn movie. Oh wait, are parodies protected by law?

I'm probably in the minority here but I'd actually prefer to see Diana in pants/tights.

I didn't mean that Gadot's type of actress was just a model turned actress.

Riiiight, of course that's not what "She's a model who... only got roles her kind of actress deserves" means.

Soon, I keep seeing. You know for films that only take a few days to make, it sure does take a long time to release them, must be all the special effects I suppose...;)

I'm not arguing that some people can do impressive stuff. For superhero looks, it all depends on the character. Its like if Marvel made a runaways movie. They would cast a normal young girl to play Molly, a little girl with super strength, and she wouldn't look powerful, which would make sense. You don't need to be physically big or imposing to have super strength in a superhero movie context as a rule, it depends on the character. To use a DC character as another example, Supergirl could just be a normal teenage/young adult girl, she wouldn't need to be especially strong looking.

You do need to be bigger than a model to be a good WW, though. She's a warrior from an island of immortal warriors. She shouldn't look like a model. She should look like she spent her life training and generally looking like she's ready to kick butt at a moments notice, not spending time trying to look good in a bikini.

Regardless of what you think, that's not what I meant. Her kind of actress is, like i said, a eye candy actress they can hire cheaply to basically do what they want. Models turned actresses seem to lean toward being that type, but not everyone is. Gadot, though, seems to be that kind of actress. I can't see her having any acting ability for a role like this. It really doesn't matter, though. Its like I said, a good actress couldn't play a good WW with Goyer writing the movie. The fact that they hired a cheap, most likely very bad actress to play WW doesn't help, but its a no win scenario regardless.

You do know that acting isn't very hard?

Acting is a skill you need training for, sure, but millions and millions of people in even just continental America can do it with the same excellence as the best movie stars... It's just a question being in the right place at the right time... Which almost never happens.

A trained warrior... like a soldier maybe? Hmm... if only they could cast somebody who'd spent two years serving in a real-life military... :shifty:

Good lord, more than 600 posts and we're still obsessing over her appearance? :cardie:

Someone PM me when we get to speculating about her role in the film.

Because there are fans, and fandom. The first want a cool movie. The second group doesn't care about a good movie, they only care about silly little details, like the thickness of an arm and wether or not it will properly portrait the arm-ness of our hero/heroine. They don't care about a good plot, the only thing that matters is that the pointy bits on Batman's cowl are neither to long or to short. If they are, then OMG THIS EFFING WRITER/DIRECTOR/PRODUCER/STUDIO/ACTOR/ACTRESS IS HORRIBLE AND WE MUST KILL THIS PERSON WITH JOY!!!!

Sorry for the rant. I love fans. I hate fandom.
