Never been a short sleeve fan. I like the design, just that I think it'd work on someone like Matt Smith more than Capaldi. I know this is g I'd enjoy a long black coat for Capaldi's Doctor. Give him something dark and/or gothic.
Time to bring back frilly shirts and smoking jackets (or something similar) Can I get a second on this?
Yes and no. While I think Capaldi could rock this, I don't want another doctor heavily basing himself on an older doctor like Smith did. Smith was basically just a youthful version of the second doctor. I don't want Capaldi being a Pertwee remake.
Time for that mime outfit the fourth tried on when he was picking his outfit. Or maybe the barbarian thing.
I could see Capaldi in someting like Captain Jacks outfit, especially the long coat... Maybe a bit more colorfull with the shirt and other accents...
Give it a shot, send me a picture. That wasn't exactly what I was going for, but sure. I haven't touched that sketch in quite a while now, but maybe I'll give it one last go if I get home before they reveal his outfit.
The picture in that link of bearded Capaldi is awesome. Just saying. A shame he isn't sporting that as the Doctor.
I'm more interested in whether or not we're getting a new sonic screwdriver. I suppose they could go with a Fifth Doctor "no Screwdriver needed" approach, but something tells me the marketing department, which I've seen is coming out with "The Other Doctor's" sonic screwdriver toy, would be keen on a new screwdriver to sell.
Well, on the "Making of" featurette for the Christmas special, it showed them say goodbye to Matt and they gave him a box with his screwdriver in it. I don't know whether that was because he was attached to it or it had a symbolic meaning. So we may indeed be getting a new one.
Hmm, "film noir" is usually associated with the 1940s. Then again, men's fashion didn't vary that greatly. The shirt collars were taller and tighter and the suits a bit more trim. Suits of the 40s were a bit looser. Here's a Google link for 20s fashion for men. https://www.google.im/search?q="fas...he 1920s&revid=263213838&safe=images&tbm=isch Thing is, David Tennant's ensemble pretty well straddled those decades, both with his pinstripe suit and his trenchcoat (though it was longer than the norm for that era). About the only thing he lacked was a fedora. Oh, I'm sure Capaldi would look quite dashing in such a wardrobe, but general audiences would think the costume department was repeating itself. Sincerely, Bill
Yeah, trench coat is probably not the best idea right now simply because Tennant had one. I am, however, pro hat. It doesn't have to be a fedora (which is overplayed these days), but we haven't had a good hat since the revival (and a Fez, whether cool or not, doesn't count).
We should have a costume reveal in the next few days. Filming begins next week (on Monday, I've heard), and the BBC will want to get ahead of the location filming spoilerhounds.
