I like egg nog, very enjoyable drink. Yeah the consistency is a lot to deal with but it's still yummy! (I don't drink mine spiked.)
The absolute best, non-alchoholic store-bought 'nog is from here in Iowa- Anderson Erikson's. I'm sure the other Iowegians will agree with me... ...or I will challenge them to a kun-ut kali-fi.
ewwww I'm never going to get this image out of my head, good thing my chance of drinking egg nog is nil.
Listen to this one, for she is wise. Egg nog is gross to look at, but oh man does it taste great! It gets even better when a liberal amount of either brandy or rum is mixed in with it.
Does it ever, I'm running some experiments of my own right now on that very concoction. I'll let you know if there are any exciting conclusions. Other than 'eggnog is good' and 'happy holidays!'
This is my holiday addiction: Hood's Pumpkin EggNog I've had spiked and regular eggnog. This one beats them all...
Take a glass of milk, blend in an egg or two and add some sweetener like honey or sugar. That's the basic plan. How do you feel about eggs and milk? There's a decent recipe here, as well as a warm version in case taking chances with raw eggs isn't your thing. http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/eggnog-recipe2/index.html?_escaped_fragment_=#!
If that happens, who does the winner end up marrying? I love egg nog. I've got a carton in the fridge right now, waiting for New Year's Eve. I intend to enjoy it, 'cause it's only available here at Christmas and Easter. On a Star Trek note: It took me awhile to take the DS9 character Nog seriously, because I couldn't understand why they'd name the kid after a holiday drink...
I'm thoroughly "meh" towards egg nog. I'm perfectly happy to drink the non-alcoholic stuff if other folks are, but I won't seek it out. I'm glad other folks enjoy it though.
It is wholesome. In fact, I remember one day when I was about to be late for school (back in the days when kids actually walked to school), I had no time for breakfast. Anticipating an argument, I asked my grandmother if I could just have a glass of egg nog. She agreed, with no problem at all. I've only had the nonalcoholic version (I'm not into alcohol, period). It can be prepared in a number of ways - some people like nutmeg in it, for example.
