RIP, Peter O'Toole...

Oh, God, I'm just gutted. He was a legend.

In the behind the scenes of Supergirl, Peter says this lovely gem about Helen Slater... "As an Actor, she has one of the most rare and beautiful things that few os us ever have: She's 19."

One of his performances that was my favorite is from My Favorite Year ... "I'm not an actor, I'm a movie star!"

Rest in peace.

Given his propensity for reckless living, that he made it to 81 is remarkable in a way; I suspect a lot of commentators in the 1970s wouldn't have bet on that. He recovered from the 70s burnout, though never quite reaching the heights of the 1960s; but given how high those were, perhaps that was inevitable.

RIP.

Lawrence of Arabia, The Stunt Man, The Ruling Class, The Lion in Winter, My Favorite Year, Man Friday, Beckett, Masada, Creator . . . so many great performances.

And, yes, Supergirl, too.

Was watching him in the extended edition of Troy just the other day and wondering if he was still with us.

I can't quite remember which was my first film with Peter O'Toole. It was either "How To Steal A Million", or "King Ralph". But I'm still thankful to my mother being a movie fan herself and having me grow up with films like his.

I remember being in the theatre watching the scene where he begs Achilles for the return of Hector's body. Hubby leaned over to me and said, "Wow, Brad Pitt just got schooled. I hope he learns something from working with a real pro."

Incredible actor, he will be missed.

"The Ruling Class" was the first Peter O'Toole movie to blow me away, but it was hardly the last . . . .

An iconic figure of a great era of film. He will be missed and fondly remembered. RIP.

This is a sad day for film. A genuinely funny man and brilliant actor.

Great video...speaks for itself. As do their mellifluous voices...
