I believe they did. He was going through pon farr. So if they didn't mate, he would have died.
Also when Savvik bumped into him in TVH, she appeared to be uncomfortable.

She then joined his mother when the "Bounty" took flight. I figured she was staying with the family because she was pregnant.

Indeed. It's clear they did if only for this fact. He survived, and Savvik of all people would have known how imperitive it was that he be guided through Pon Farr.

There's a moment in the final scene of TSFS where she and Spock share a glance and she is likewise. Her body language is all over the place because she evidently had no idea if Spock actually remembers it or not.

The main goal is in fact the lack of inhibition of Spock's parents who did this finger trick in front of everyone in Journey to Babel. It was cleary pon every night in their house!

To be honest, if it really came down to a choice between life or death, then I'd tap Savvik as well.

But I'd be thinking of Rebecca from Cheers. :adore:

What kind did they have? How many times did they do it? Did they use birth control? Did Saavik get over David too fast to get jiggy with Spock? There's lots of threads one could start rather than revive one that might have been better left dead.

Before Voyager messed it up, I thought it was more about the mental link rather the physical one. But in Voyager, all they needed to do was to fuck a hologram. That makes pon farr a lot less dramatic when it's just "I'm going to die if I don't jerk off!!!".

As borgboy pointed out above, many forums have precisely the opposite policy regarding starting a new thread on an old topic. In fact it's been my experience that that tends to be the norm. I don't see the harm in reviving an old thread, especially if the person who did so was trying to avoid breaking any rules.

On TrekBBS, you can never be sure when you're going to break a rule.

It is strange how Saavik stays behind on Vulcan in STIV with no explanation. It kind of makes her look cowardly, like she didn't want to face Starfleet Command for the charges they were all facing. Her being pregnant would've been some reason to stay behind, if she wanted to get Vulcan pre natal care or whatever. Although given how we saw a flashback of Amanda giving birth to Spock in a freaking CAVE! I think I'd take my chances with Dr. McCoy treating me if I were Saavik (and pregnant).

Saavik wasn't facing any charges at all.

That's true. She would probably have needed to file some kind of report on what happened on Genesis, but yeah, she didn't break any rules that I can think of. Good point.

Maybe she just had a different posting and was going in a different direction or whatever. It's still odd that they say good bye to her though without any explanation as to what's going on with her.

But then, it bothers me how Carol Marcus doesn't appear again after STII either.

I just rewatched STIII earlier this week and you know what bugged me? When they played the recording of Kirk explaining Genesis. It's the same explanation Carol Marcus gave in TWOK. Word. For. Word. If they didn't want to pay the actress again by re-using the recording from that film, then at least change Kirk's explanation a LITTLE.

With necro'd threads it seems pretty subjective depending on..

Who necro'd it? Are they a total newbie OR a pain in the ass? Probably get closed. If they are a poster in good standing probably get left open depending on:

Was it a healthy thread or a train wreck thread? The latter, closed. The former, if the right kind of person necroed it it will stay depending on:

Does the necro'er add anything of substance to the thread? If it's necro'd with "whut, haha I never thought of this" it will be closed.

And finally what happens to the thread once it is necro'd? If a healthy discussion breaks out it will remain open. If replies consists only of "lol, necro" or it is ignored it will be closed.

In this case we had new poster, original thread healthy, opening necro post contains content of substance, actual discussion on topic ensues. I predict it will remain open.

This is my story, this is my song.

ALSO THEY TOTALLY DID IT AND IT RUINED ST:II FOR ME

Just so ick, teenage Spock. Let him die I say! No, not really but.. ick.

They did it. Obviously.

It was a major missed opportunity not to let us learn how Saavik felt about it. It was one of the, unfortunately, many problems in TSFS.
