Never seen a Babylon 5 DVD so cheap

In New Zealand we have The Warehouse, which is in between Wal-Mart and K-Mart for material, quality, etc.

Recently (like in the last week) they've realised DVDs are becoming harder and harder to sell and so they've slashed all tv shows made prior to 2000 (with a few obvious exceptions) to just $10, which is about US$8, or UK 5 pounds.

Considering I have a gap on my shelf which has always bugged me (I've never bought season two, for a variety of reasons) I have no excuse not to complete it. :)

That's just NZ$0.45 an episode!

Good for you mate!

Why have you never bought season 2 though? It has some GREAT episodes!

Mainly financial reasons and availability. Haven't had much disposable income since the twins were born but $10 is much better than $120 when they first came out!

The other interesting thing is up until now, finding a Babylon 5 DVD was a rare event. I could locate one or two copies of a single season but finding more would be amazing.

Yesterday I found at least twenty copies of seasons two to five!

Funny - there was not a single copy of season one, which I would also consider getting to replace my large, cardboard fold out set.

That's a pretty good price. I got all of my B5 DVD's from amazon. The cheapest I paid was $8.52 (US Dollars, of course) including shipping for Season 3. The most I spent was $16.02 for Season 4. The rest were about 10 dollars with shipping, and I thought I got a good deal on all of them. Then again, all but season 4 were the bigger packaging (from the first DVD release), so they were cheaper anyway compared to the repackaging versions (smaller cases like in the picture in the first post).

The shop nearest us had heaps of s2-s5, a couple of sets of Crusade and no s1 or tv movie collection (the latter of which is very hard to find in stores now).

I bought the Region 1 B5 movie collection as it includes The Gathering and In the Beginning plus commentaries, which which aren't included on the R2 set. WB DVDs aren't region coded so the R1 set will play on an R2 player, albeit the video is NTSC instead of PAL, of course.

Is the NZ version content (R4) like the R2 version?

You can buy the complete boxset, including 5 series, + Crusade series, and all 7 movies including the Lost Tales for £60 in the UK.

It has the five movies on it, but I've no idea what extras it comes with.

Usually R4 is identical to R2, but there are exceptions.

That sounds more like the US version. I think there was a R2 version of the movie set without commentaries because of some dispute over WB editing their content. I don't really recall the details now.

Theoretically one of the commentaries was supposed to be pulled from the next pressing of the Crusade DVDs, but I'm not sure that's happened yet.

I thought they pulled one of the commentaries at the start due to WB interference with what JMS said.

Or was that a documentary?

Nice. I was trying to find some babylon 5 dvds a few months ago. I remember seeing some in a few places sometime last year. Now very hard to find.
