How the hell is Vic Fontaine in the MU?

Not to mention Ezri just happened to be there in the MU during the season 7 timeframe.

She may not have been joined though. It could have just been Ezri Tigan, not Ezri Dax

Right now I'm playing Beyond Two Souls with Ellen Page and Willem Dafoe. I'm always amazed when I see them in real life. Just how can that be?

Like the Klingon forehead issue in the TOS episode. They just have just left it at that.

    MU Ezri was unjoined.

I always wished MU Jadzia was unjoined. First viewing, I actually thought that when Sisko called her Dax, he had tipped off that he was an imposter by calling her a name that wasn't hers. Was not to be, though. :)

Huh. I could've sworn MU Ezri was joined with Dax. I even vaguely remember that there was some suggestion that Ezri had a hand in Jadzia's death to get the Dax symbiote. Could that have come from a book? Maybe it's about a different AU and not the MU? Or maybe my imagination just made that up.

She angrily replies "I'm not Dax!" at one point in the episode when Rom or Quark mistakes her for the real Ezri.

It sounds like I'm mistaken then. It is more interesting that Ezri isn't joined.

^ Makes sense, really. Nobody in the MU knows about the wormhole, so then they can't know about the Prophets or Pah-wraiths. And since regular-Jadzia was killed BY the Pah-wraiths...her MU counterpart must, logically, survive. Thus, Dax is still inside Jadzia.

At least until MU-Jadzia is herself killed ("The Emperor's New Cloak"). So it would seem that the mirror Dax symbiont is also dead.

Oh, wait a minute: Never mind. I did some checking - in the MU, Jadzia isn't Dax either. The mu-Dax never left Curzon.

That doesn't sound right. I'm pretty sure MU Jadzia was Dax, given her relationship with Sisko. Didn't he still call her Old Man?
I thought Ezri killed Jadzia, but even if I'm wrong about that, Jadzia could've died some other way.

Of course it is. Julian was a candidate for the new version of the EMH.

I think Sisko called her "Dax" at one point. She doesn't correct him, but maybe she just didn't feel like it. mu-Jadzia didn't have the same relationship with her Sisko as in the RU; I think their mirror selves were just ex-lovers. (I find it unlikely that the mirrors of Sisko and Curzon even met in the first place.) And from the look of it, they didn't break up on the friendliest of terms.

And mu-Ezri did not kill Jadzia. That much I know.

Cool. I'm planning to do a DS9 marathon soon-ish, so I can revive my memory of all the little details I've forgotten.
I checked out the MU and regular Jadzia and Ezri profiles on Memory Alpha (ST wiki) and MU Ezri definitely wasn't joined. The info on MU Jadzia was more vague. They don't list her as joined or unjoined, while other Trills are specified, but she still is listed with the name Jadzia Dax, while MU Ezri is listed with her original name.

In the Mirror Universe, Jadzia was joined because Sisko called her Dax when he first crossed over from the regular universe and she didn't correct him.

In the seventh season, its mentioned that mirror universe Jadzia was killed, which is why mirror universe Bashir was more pissed off than usual, because they had become closer after the mirror universe Sisko was killed and the regular universe Sisko wasn't around to fill in for him.

Then again, there's no proof that the "Dax" in the mirror Jadzia's name was the symbiont. It could simply be a last name. Perhaps she believed the symbiont to be dead, and chose its name for her last name to honor it?

Or maybe, like I said, she just didn't feel like correcting Sisko when he called her that. She didn't like him much at that point, anyway.

It seems overly complicated to assume that MU Jadzia didn't have the Dax symbiote when she had no reaction at being called Dax.
The intention seems to be that MU Jadzia was joined with Dax. It could've been interesting if they'd gone another way, such as having MU Curzon Dax still around.

My own feeling was that Vic Fontaine's appearance in the Mirror Universe is supposed to mean that it's more than just another alternate universe. Instead, the two universes are linked inexorably and they mimic each other in certain ways.

It would also explain why the exact same people (genetically, at least) are showing up, and being given the same names, hundreds of years after the point-of-divergence (somewhere around Enterprise or between than and the Original Series).

As in, Vic Fontaine exists in the Mirror Universe because he's being a meaningful part of the Regular Universe.

That's just speculation, of course. Reading this thread has, however, given me the strong desire to go back and watch those episodes on their own as some sort of mini-series.

Well, this is the MU, after all. People in that universe don't seem to like each other at all. ;)

I'm not sure if this counts as proof, but the ST collectible card game card for Mirror Jadzia has text that says she's a joined trill, and her name is Jadzia Dax. I don't see any proof or even a hint or suggestion that Mirror Jadzia wasn't joined with Dax.
