For those that have read my latest story "Crossroads", featuring an all new crew beginning on a rather epic adventure, I'm looking for a little help.

The series and ship are yet to be named. I've got a list of possibilities drawn up but can't really decide, as I can have both called the same (such as DS9 and VOY) or could call the series one thing and the ship another (TNG and E-D).

Listed here are several possibilities that could do for either. Your thoughts are, as always, well appreciated.

This is a multiple choice poll, so vote for as many as take your fancy. It will close at the start of December.

Thank you.

Andromeda makes me think of the Kevin Sorbo show.
Destiny was my first impulse, but there's a Galaxy class ship of the same name.
Endeavor and Odyssey were also referred to as ships in the various series.
Sojourner immediately reminds me of Sojourner Truth, an African-American abolitionist and women's rights activist.
Venture was my second choice after realizing Destiny was taken.

I didn't check out the others, but of them I like Wayfarer.

So I'm going to say Venture.

That's what I've been having issues with, names that I like are already taken by other ships. Then again this is set in 2377 a couple years after we last heard of some of them, so whose to say they survived the Dominion War (the last U.S.S. Odyssey didn't survive their Jem'Hadar encounter).

Depending on what you have in mind for the series arc, Sojourner might work simply due to its real world historical significance.

How about Star Trek: New Galaxy for the series and Sonador for the ship name? It means 'Dreamer' in Spanish. :)

If you gents over at UT are happy to include this story in its canon, then I would be more than happy to see it stand aside the collected works.

Well, in UT canon, the USS Endurance is assigned to the Andromeda Galaxy in the series The Endurance of Jesse Yeager..

Not sure if that happened before or after this, chronologically, however.

Though the odds of those two ships making contact with one another in the entirety of an unexplored galaxy is beyond remote.

Sojourner sounds like a ship with a specific purpose plus it sounds like the least used (if used at all) ship name up there.

It looks like I've missed that one. Very true though, it is a pretty big galaxy.

I'm easy either way, though.

Of course, my apologies. I was only offering suggestions. Anyways, I am partial to Universe and Wayfarer.

Usually I'm happy to field suggestions, but in this instance I had names pretty much set but couldn't decide which one I liked/fit the best.

It's a multiple choice poll so go for as many as you like :)

I'm partial to Sojourner, myself.

And if you should by astronomical chance run into the USS Endurance as you travel about the Andromeda galaxy, please remind Captain Yeager that his 5 year mission has expired and to kindly return his starship.

Well, in the UT, there was a Nova-class USS Sojourner that was destroyed at Lakesh a year prior to this story (March 2376). Perhaps Takashima had a friend on that crew?

Whichever one comes out on top I'm sure I can think up a good reason for naming the ship that. Just have to wait and see what the results are on December 1st.

I had a quick peek at TEoJY and it looks as though things kick off there in February 2377. The Mandela was sent out on her long-range survey mission in mid-late 2376, with news reports taking their time to get out to them, so by the time Takashima and the others go missing they might be oblivious to the Endurance's mission--so they would never know that had an ally in the same galaxy.

The Endurance mission was highly-classified so it is doubtful that any of the Mandela crew would know of it. However unlikely it is that your crew would encounter the Endurance, there is a fair chance they could encounter the H'lranthians as they travel widely. That could be a good thing or a very bad thing depending on the faction they meet. I would suppose the Kelvan (from TOS canon) might still be around the Andromeda galaxy as well.
