It seems "grey" has spread and pretty much taken over. I prefer "gray" so much that I disrespect "grey" by pronouncing it "gree".![]()

Purple. It's also the colour of my favourite football team (Ravens), and the name of one of my favourite albums. So awesome all round.

Grey has always been 'grey' for me. It's just the way I learned the spelling, although I've always been aware of 'gray' as the alternate spelling, and I have noticed the 'e' spelling becoming more present in American English, whereas I used to see it primarily in British English. I recall a short story I read once in which a pair of twins' eye colors were described as one having 'gray' eyes and the other 'grey.'
