Captain America: The Winter Soldier pre-release thread

I haven't seen the Iron Man movies in awhile but didn't they say something about Howard's obsessive quest for technology alienating himself from everyone around him?

To me it was sort of what happened to Tony in Iron Man 3; his father became so obsessed with creating a better future for his son, that he completely forgot to live with him in the now. Same thing could be said for Tony; he became so obsessed with protecting the ones he loved, that he forgot to be with them while they were around.

Yeah, definitely cool. Makes it stand out as something different.

Hopefully there are no tall buildings (unless they actually take pictures of Rosslyn in Virginia). Get DC right ;)

^Sure, he could appear in the present in his android form, and I'd have no objection to that. I'm just cautioning that it's not a sure thing -- since it does appear there will be flashbacks in the movie, we can't rule out the possibility that Zola will only appear in the past.

I think that the Peggy Carter scenes are supposed to be modern day, with Atwell just under a lot of elderly make-up.

I'm guessing in this version Sharon will be her great-niece or something (kid of her brother, to justify the last name?) because there's too much of a gap for her to be just her niece.

Yeah, but the same can't be said for Dominic Cooper's return as Howard Stark. Unless he turns up miraculously alive... but that's the sort of thing that should happen in an Iron Man film instead, if it were going to happen.

I'm still really hoping that in Cap 2 they make some reveal there were other "replacement Caps" during the Cold War. Give us some extra fodder to explore.

The only replacement Cap that worked was the Commie smasher racist from Englehart's run. The others were just retcon over kills. It worked because he was the anti-Cap even though he thought he was carrying on Cap's legacy. The moment he finds out Steve is the real Cap is priceless.

^ I disagree. The original What If? #4 (The only What If? to not take place in an alternate universe), which told the tale of the first two replacement Caps, is one of my favorite books from that era.

I'm still hoping that they'll do "Captain America No More!" with the Super-Patriot for Captain America 3.
