^ Plus, if his father's disabled from the work-related injury, he may be eligible for SSDI (Social Security Disability Insurance), which would make him eligible for Medicare after two years.

Hi, low income person here; has often gone without eating for days at a time, has lived in tents, outside under the stars, in driveways at night, has had lots of experience with the federal, state, and local safety nets, and, um, how can I phrase this gently, but... "what the fuck are you talking about?"

Your post is filled with the most ignorant, cliched, unchecked, statements I've seen since I talked with family members who think Obama's a Kenyan Muslim attacking their freedom. If you're one of those, carry on, facts won't affect your answers, but if you're not one of those, please cite your sources.

Hi! Pleased to meet you. I was a low income person once, but I'm not anymore. It's not hard to make decent money in America. Glad things are better for you now.

Swearing on this site again...

Please be more specific and if your questions make sense and aren't some conservative/Republican hate filled rant, I'll address them.

Just facts please.

Re: Ok Trekkers, Don't Forget To Sign Up For Mandatory Obamacare Oct 1

Don't mind that working folks' health insurance rates will go up. President Obama knows this, that is why he has exempted business from the mandate for another year. See most of folks are insured through their employer. Of course, he wont do that for individuals that pay for their own insurance. Not sure why, he IS for the little guy you know.

You can disagree with the law, but the Administration's position here is pretty reasonable: The employer mandate is a tiny component of the law, and the individual mandate is vital to it. Without the individual mandate, the industry would collapse in on itself under the weight of the new enrollees with preexisting conditions.

Again, it's ok that you don't favor the law, but can you please stop bringing this nonsense up over and over again?

I don't blame you for hating Democrats when it comes to business/jobs. They have no idea what they are doing. Look across America. Financially successful cities/towns are run by Republicans. Many elected into governorships/mayors after the Democrats ran them into the ground.

Interesting assertion. Have you seen California or Massachusetts lately?

I'm afraid under Obummer Care your parents will have to purchase insurance. Can't think of a reason they wouldn't under the new law. it IS the law of the land you know.

It sounds like his parents likely qualify for medicaid, which means they're exempt from the mandate.

No, they won't, at least not if his story is true. How can you hate something so much that you know so little about?

Im N Ur Childhoodz will stereotype me as you've seen. It makes him/her feel important. I saw he preached to you as well. He doesn't know you, but chooses to categorize and demean you. Probably compensating for something. Not sure what.
You understand that people read the things you (and others) post and then form opinions based on that, right? I'm basing my comments on the things he said himself in this thread. You clearly don't know what stereotyping means. For future reference, it doesn't mean quoting actual things you've said about the alleged entitlement-loving, freeloading 47%. It's also hilarious that you complain about being stereotyped but still couldn't help saying the exact thing I said you would in the very same post. It's almost Pavlovian:

People like this are the rare stereotype guys like Yanks holds up of the freeloaders who want more more more from the government to do nothing, and then at the same time you turn around and bite the hand that feeds you. So congratulations on perpetuating the stereotype of the greedy, entitlement loving 47% that the Republicans get so much mileage out of despite it being an outlier and not the norm.

Yanks wrote:
But not to worry, you will be subsidized. Either you will be covered under your parents insurance until your 26, then Medicaid will be there for you. No need for you to support yourself. You've got about 99 months of unemployment (I think, don't honestly know if you qualify if you have never worked.) and food stamps for ever. Some states have those credit card things, you can pretty much buy whatever you want - no one will stop you or check.

Don't mind that working folks' health insurance rates will go up.
I'll just leave out that almost all of that is factually incorrect nonsense, because that would probably be stereotyping you too, right?

All I can say is that I'm in a weird position. I'm a 22 year old who has never had a job. My parents don't have, and won't get insurance (my mom works minimum wage and my dad gets money from the state because of work related injuries, although he's eventually going to be able to get a job again). We're definately a low income family (we get some state benefits like food assistance). Since I doubt I'll get a job between now and January, its going to be really interesting to see if they can fine someone with no income (and has never had income, so has never done taxes). Actually, knowing this country I'll probably end up in debtor's prison for the crime of not being able to pay what is essentially a tax on living :sigh:

I personally support anything the republicans can do about this. It's funny, because I'm mostly moderate with stuff. I go with Democrats when it comes to things like people's rights to marry whoever, etc, and I hate a lot of the republican BS spouted by people and channels like fox news. But economically I hate Democrats and especially Obamacare (and yes, I'm aware my family's state assistance is because I live in a democrat dominated state, they do a few good things but I still mostly hate democrats economic ideas, especially Obamacare). I hope the republicans find a way to do something about Obamacare, or I'm screwed. Obamacare literally keeps me up at night. Nothing like a looming deadline for something you can't avoid or afford to give you tons of stress.

Harry Reid knows this, that's why he wont compromise or even talk with The House.

Those "evil" the Republicans voted to fully fund the government, but added a requirement that everyone live under Obamacare. No more special waivers for Congress and their staff, and no waivers for big business without the same waivers for individuals.

Obama refused to negotiate and Senate Democrats refused to pass it.

I don't blame you for hating Democrats when it comes to business/jobs. They have no idea what they are doing. Look across America. Financially successful cities/towns are run by Republicans. Many elected into governorships/mayors after the Democrats ran them into the ground. (See Detroit)

I not as naive, for all I know you are blind, or have no legs or something like that as most people desire to earn a living and enjoy independence. I won't jump to conclusions. I can't believe there are people out there that just don't want to work.

Hope you don't end up in a situation where you get fined for existing. But as long as you don't work and don't have to file a tax return you should be good to go.

Good luck. Hope you Dad gets better soon.

Almost everything you posted above is wrong. How about you just stop posting, since you can't be bothered to post anything that's true? It will do the world a service.

Oh, the irony!

So far, it appears that you post anything that sounds good to you, without bothering to verify it. Example:
You've got about 99 months of unemployment (I think, don't honestly know if you qualify if you have never worked.)...

Don't be ridiculous. Of course he doesn't qualify for unemployment! Unemployment insurance is something that you and your employer pay into, in case you lose your job through no fault of your own. But I suspect you knew that already.

At least on that one you admitted that you didn't know what you were talking about. So why say it, except to stir things up? And when people present facts that you don't like, you either laugh at, insult, or ignore them. So excuse me if I don't take your request for facts, not rants very seriously.

"I don't know if Obama is a socialist Kenyan Muslim sleeper agent, I'm just saying it's a possibility."

Re: Ok Trekkers, Don't Forget To Sign Up For Mandatory Obamacare Oct 1

Honestly, all this kirk55555 shenanigan reads as a parody. "I know nothing about the ACA but I hate it, I refuse to learn anything about it but I'm sure it will hurt me, I don't want to work but I despise anyone who would help the unemployed." Yeah, right.

If your talking to me, I'll stop posting if its a problem. I didn't mean to cause any trouble or to make anyone angry. I was honestly just posting about the topic, and I didn't mean to get some people riled up.
lol

Anything you have said so far has been wrong. That's a fact.

Also, fucking swearwords are fucking allowed here. Fuck.

Yup. You've got that talk radio "we don't know but" style down perfectly. :bolian:

Except you left out Nazi.

I thought it might be a lame parody attempt at first too, but sadly, the whole "I know nothing about Obamacare (but the EXACT same thing is much more well liked when you call it the ACA or describe the individual benefits to people), I have no desire to learn anything about Obamacare from a reputable source, but I still hate Obamacare unconditionally and will resist it at every turn without even giving it a chance" is pretty much par or the course from Republican legislators right on down to the most outspoken posters in this thread, as is the "I got mine, screw everyone else" mentality. It would merely be pretty pathetic if that attitude wasn't also responsible for holding the whole country hostage at the moment.

Re: Ok Trekkers, Don't Forget To Sign Up For Mandatory Obamacare Oct 1

I'm just an ignorant Canuck with a helmet, but are taxes in the US so complicated that a $40 copy of TurboTax is insufficient for single-income earners?

I ask because one of kirk5555555's objections to working is that he's afraid he'll get his taxes wrong and 'bad things' will happen to him.

In any event, living with your parents at 22 never having held a job is not a very forward-looking strategy. We've all been young and directionless but there comes a time when self-sufficiency is it's own reward. If you're willing to work and impress the right people, a career can spring from the most unlikely of circumstances.

Tax forms for young single people constitute a whole page.

No, minimum wage and welfare are also available in Republican dominated states. You have the liberals to thank for your ability to eat.

I hope the republicans find a way to do something about Obamacare, or I'm screwed.
Actually, sounds like you're pretty screwed anyway.

Obamacare literally keeps me up at night. Nothing like a looming deadline for something you can't avoid or afford to give you tons of stress.
It's 60 bucks you wouldn't get in your tax refund. I'd worry about your family's dire financial situation and how that jibs with the GOP's current economic platform.

I'm not trying to take a jab at anyone but I do question the intelligence of those who follow the current GOP.

The GOP says "God, guns and the Government is coming to get folks" and it seems these people just completely turn their brains off and become mindless drones.

Yanks and kirk55555 are perfect examples of this, not even investigating the issues they claim are the reason of their hatred of Obamacare.

Personally, I think Kirk's father should submit to a drug test every week to make sure he's not smoking crack.

Also, Republicans are the party of less government.

Would probably refuse because he'd be afraid the gubmint would come take his twenty-two year old baby away.

Also, Republicans are the party of less government.

Yep, in Bizarro world. :techman:
