I want to say Ohio, because of Xenia, but I've never been to the state so it's just a guess. But the only town named Guin I can find is in Alabama.

I think he definitely does deserve a ship named after him, as well as acting he has a long list of accomplishments under his belt: boxed with the Dalai Lama, three attempts to climb Everest, climbed Aconcagua and Kilimanjaro, the oldest man to trek to the magnetic North Pole on foot, awarded two honorary degrees, nominated for Chancellor of the University of Cambridge, and is a trained Cosmonaut.

I would be honoured to serve on the U.S.S. Blessed, especially if the computer sounded like him :)

Another man deserving of a starship named after him would be Christopher Pike. They already have a medal of valour named for him, so a ship would also be very fitting.

I don't think it's canon, but it may be. Regardless, I'd name one the Horizon, after my all time favorite Disney attraction; Horizons, from EPCOT.

The French and Spanish at the Battle of Trafalgar would tend to disagree with you. Plus I think it would have an effect on opposing ships.

Science officer: New ship coming in the sector, it looks well armed. Name coming through as USS Victory.

    Captain: Shit!

They are the names of cities struck by strong violent tornadoes.

    To wit

Captain Perry of the USS Rhoden (Gene) http://www.weatherpix.com/

    USS Grazulis
    USS Doswell
    USS Marshall

    all at Fujita base

I always wanted to see a Defiant-class starship named U.S.S. Warspite.

Isn't that more an example of picking an existing name rather than coming up with your own starship name?

I think re-applying existing names has to count. After all, Enterprise was itself an inspired re-application of an existing name. (Although I get what you're saying -- there's already an "existing" Trek ship with that name.)

How would you like to be the Chief Engineer on board the USS Montgomery Scott. The name demands absolute perfection and innovation.

Being a (casual) Nebraska Cornhusker football fan, I thought of this:

    USS Berringer.

    Excelsior class, NCC-41796.

(I picked that number because it was the last full day Brook was alive: April 17, 1996.)
