Quite sad. Last book I read was Rainbow Six and that's almost 20 years old. Did he do anything after that?
I haven't read any of his recent co-authored novels though. The last one I read was Teeth of the Tiger which was 11 years ago. But I devoured all those early books several times. RIP Thanks for the many many hours of fun reading.

Me too. I knew he was a very sick man-has been for years. Sad to see him pass. The Dragon and the Bear is a favorite of mine.
RIP, Mr. Clancy. I had to find a new copy of Hunt for Red October a few years back.

After Rainbow Six, he started writing non-fiction military stuff and "co-authored" a handful of books by another author.. Starting in 2006, he picked up the Ryan Universe again, but this time focusing mostly on Jack Ryan Jr with Sr. as a more secondary player.
His stance through most of his novels leaned Republican, but his more recent works have been very politically biased toward conservative thinking, economically and militarily speaking....

I read his novels up through the Bear and the Dragon and some of the non-fiction works he was writing at the time. I have no idea how many times I re-read Hunt For Red October, Red Storm Rising, and some of his other earlier books. I'm going to have to pick them up again.

66 isn't a great age these days. I think the last new book of his I read was either Teeth of the Tiger or Red Rabbit. I think after 911 he veered a little too much to the right for me, but I really enjoyed his earlier stuff, god knows how many times I've red Red Storm Rising. Always more of a fan of Clarke and Chavez than Ryan too.

I've never read him, but have played several of the Splinter Cell games so I'm posting here as a mark of respect for that. 66 is way too young.
If you think he veered right after 9-11, you weren't paying attention to his earlier books.
I have almost every Tom Clancy novel, especially the Ryan ones. He was my favorite author! I loved his novels and could not put them down once I had started the first page. I used to read his novels for 6-7 hours a day every day until I had finished them. His stories were so compelling and exciting. My favorites were Hunt for Red October, Red Storm Rising, Sum of All Fears, Executive Orders, Bear and the Dragon and Locked On. RIP to a magnificent author!
Well maybe its fairer to say his moral compass seemed to shift, the line moved as it were, or became easier for his characters to cross
heck maybe it wasn't him that changed, maybe it was me...Anyway that's two writers I grew up with gone this year (James Herbert being the other)
