OH.MY.GOD.

Is that a hotel at the bottom?

I think this wedding will be uber traditional because they are already married western style. This is for the traditional relatives back home.

I'm gonna google that island into pulp!

For a small country, South Korea has a lot of cool stuff to see. And yeah the traditional wedding should be fun. You like Korean food anyway so I'm sure you will like it.

I have no idea if that thing on the bottom is a hotel! But I do know they have a lot of resorts. It's considered "the vacation spot" for Korean people who just cannot afford to leave the country or go abroad for their honeymoons.

There's a few volcanoes I think and a really beautiful beach. :) My penpal said it's nice to visit there, but not to live. But I think everyone says that about their home city. Apparently you can only access Jeju by boat or plane.

Here's another hobby I have, which may seem kind of weird:

I collect payment farecards from transit systems in every city I visit. I've travelled a lot in my search for ballparks, and in any major city that has a subway or rail system, I collect and save the cards you use to pay for the rides. I have a whole notebook full of them now - a MetroCard from NYC, a CharlieCard from Boston, an Orca Card from Seattle, etc.

You kept your MetroCard?

I have one in my wallet. They are disposable, but I believe the money never expires so if you come back to visit I think you'll be able to use whatever is left on it. I'm not positive about that though.

That's really cool that you travel all over the country! I wish I did that! :)

Not only that, but I have two of them in my collection. One is a regular MetroCard, the other is a PATH version that I used when I went to visit Red Bull Arena in Harrison, NJ. :)

I am very curious, though, if there's any more news on the MTA using smart cards. I heard they were going to do that - move to a smart card that would be useable on subways, buses, PATH, LIRR, MetroNorth, and even NJ Transit. I wish they'd get off their asses and do it! :scream:

Hmm...I believe it's only Subway and Bus. I think most NYC buses...you can swipe your MetroCard. Obviously it's mainly used for the NYC subway. However, I do not think you can use it in NJ for PATH or NJ Transit. However it's been a while since I've used NJ public transportation other than taking the Bergenline bus to the city.

I live next to the city, but I rarely go there. Although I've recently moved much closer (GWB entrance) in the past 2 months so my trips are more frequent now.

Usually I pay 2 bucks for the bus and use the MetroCard for the subway.

@Captain Kathryn: I use NJ Transit all the time when I go out east (I have relatives who live near Morris Plains, and I always stay with them - take NJT into the city every morning), but unfortunately they use their own system. I did hear that there was talk of moving to a single, unified smart card that would be useable all through NJ and NY but unfortunately that seems to have stalled. :sigh:

And yeah, Red Bull Arena is a soccer stadium (NY Red Bulls - subtle product placement, eh? ;) ). I am not much of a soccer fan but I love taking pictures of sports stadia and arenas of all kinds. I just wish I could get the train out to Met Life Stadium, but they only go out there on game days!

You can probably tell that I am a transit geek. I am totally obsessed with trains and subways of all kinds. I will quite happily ride around on a city's mass transit system even if I have no destination in mind! In fact - and yes, this is quite pathetic - the first time I learned how to ride the NYC subway, I literally did nothing for the rest of the day but ride around on it. I spent HOURS on it. I am so obsessed with mass transit, it's unreal. :D

Yet another stadium that is placed in NJ yet calls its team NY? :scream:

And yeah that would be awesome if they made a unified system, but they are two different states with different pricing and regulations. I can see why it would be annoying if you're taking the NJ train in every day though.

When I lived in Morris County, I took the Dover train (1 hour-ish) to the city. Now I live in Fort Lee (Bergen) so I'm like...staring at NYC out my window. 2 bucks for the bus over the bridge is waaaay better than 12-15 for the train, so I've been going more often.

The Morris & Essex line? That's the same train I take! Wow. :)

Yes small world haha.

I believe it is the Morris line, yeah. Dover is the last stop. So when you take it from the city, I think on the view-screen where you look at the departures and arrivals it will say Dover as the destination when you're going home from the city.

^ And that's how I kept from getting totally lost at Penn Station the first couple of times I went there. I always looked up at that huge board and looked for "Dover". Given my tendency to panic, it was a huge help...

Been a long time since there's been a B'way show I liked. I've seen Urinetown three times, and Movin' Out twice, but that's been about it, really...

Does anyone else get this thing where the are looking at a huge densely worded board like that and they have the impulse to click "find" in their head?
