Too update the franchise for modern audiences and to tell fun adventure stories where you don't already know the fate of the characters involved. :techman:

I know exactly what will happen; the bad guys will turn up in big spaceships, Kirk will be arrogant but learn his lesson and Spock will lose his temper and beat someone up.

Ad infinitum
.

And no one is forcing you to watch it.

Try Star Trek Online concept of the Borg. They've been using the concept of less flesh more machine for a couple years. If we have to have (uggh) the Borg, then I want them to actually be frightening again, a real threat; no more of this space vampire shit from First Contact and Voyager.

OK, I got it: Terminators.

Seriously, what is the point of this 'reboot' if everything is just going to get rehashed? Wasn't the idea that it would open up the universe for new adventures? So far we've had a villain literally from the Prime universe and a retread of a TOS villain... fucking pointless...

No, the idea is to open up Star Trek to a wider audience, to make the franchise profitable, to make more money. This idea has succeeded.

I'd rather see something original than a rehash of a villain that's been done to death in TNG and Voyager.

The Borg were fine on TNG, it was VOY that overused them to death by having them appear multiple times per season.

He probably is. Doing something else would require taking a chance and the pale white Khan is firmly rooted in the safe zone.

Yeah. How dare they continue with a character and actor performance that general audiences actually enjoyed?

Yes, how dare a reboot take familiar characters and concepts and do something different with them. It's not like other franchise reboots have ever done that, oh wait, THEY ALL HAVE. The Borg are my favorite ST alien race. I'd love to see how they'd look with today's technology/effects. Also, it would be something new since TOS crew has never encountered the Borg before. We know that Kirk would handle them much differently than Picard or Janeaway did.
