That cover is, as many have pointed out, beautiful, and the plot sounds delicious as well.

I wonder if it will be following up the plot thread left dangling at the end of the last book.

I hope not, it kind of feels like the Typhon Pact stuff has started to drag a bit too much into political thriller territory, where every story is starting to become intensely focused on conflict.

I hope not. I'm really looking forward to this as I loved Swallow's previous entry, but a large part of the appeal of Titan for me is the Strange New Worlds ethos of Trek that has been the focus of the series and is what makes it tick. If the series switched to be another TNG-like take on the franchise, I'd be very disappointed.

I'm guessing (completely uneducated obviously) that this entry is more an "anomaly" for the series and we'll see reprocussions for the crew (a la Destiny to Over a Torrent Sea) that'll spin off into whatever next deep space assignment awaits the crew in subsequent books.

But what do I know?

I echo all the previous notes : a) mother of Christ that's a pretty cover, and b) bringing Titan back to the Federation seems contrary to the entire point of the series, but then I suppose there's no other way to include them in the overarching storyline (but Destiny managed it, as noted), and I hope it doesn't signal a whole new direction for the series.

Wowza, what a cover. Brilliant new look at Titan. Not a slight, so much as an observation, but the Luna-class does look a little more like an Akira-class with the "Aztec"ing patterning. Certainly not the same, but just a passing similarity.

Can't wait for this. I've slowed down my reading of late and I'm getting more and more anxious to get to these books.

It's a nice cover, but rather on the bland side. I'm reminded of the cover for "Unworthy", just at a slightly different angle and with Titan instead of Voyager. But I would've preferred to have seen a cover sort of like "Idic Epidemic" or "Doomsday World", where it was a montage of images, since I don't think the ship-over-planet really gets people wandering what happens in the story. And with a title such as "The Poisoned Chalice" there really isn't anything the cover that looks like a chalice or even makes a metaphorical tie in to whatever the Poison Chalice is.
