I've never been a fan of the -D. Looks like a squashed pleasure yacht on the outside and a nasty hotel on the inside.

It's the -E for me.

The D is a much more complete looking ship.

The E seemed like it was designed by a commitee of 14-29 year old males who thought back in 1995 it was cool to have the eloquent Picard in an gung-ho action orientated ship.

I think the E looks daft. But not as daft as USS Voyager.

The "E" looks like they took the Enterprise-refit, Excelsior and Voyager put them in a blender and then stomped on it.

I'm not sure where I read it but I believe the Sovereign class was meant to be the replacement for the Excelsior class & not the galaxy. Probably the reason it was a lot smaller.

I'm sure if the Ent-D had survived it would have continued as the flagship for many more years.

Well it certainly shows!

Which part of my post do you mean?

Sorry I wasn't more clear. The part about it being a replacement to the Excelsior-class. I was saying that it certainly shows. It has that sleek design of the Excelsior. In fact, the E does very little to remind me of the D, to be honest.

It does look like a stretched Excelsior class doesn't it. I do love the Excelsior. I really like the sleekness of the E but there is something about the D that edges it for me.

I agree completely.

Nothing stopping you from doing one if you want to. It won't be the first, definitely won't be the last. :)

Loved the D for years as it represented the return of Trek to TV but when I saw the E-E streak cross the screen for the first time in FC it became my favorite. I then knew how much I had missed the swept nacelle strut design of the old refit.

Exactly my feelings about the E. Would have liked a space dock sequence to introduce her though - thought that was lacking from FC

More of a slow float though, really. ;)

:)E it more of a warship!

I think the Enterprise D could also be considered the Federation's most powerful "warship" as it was the flagship, and it would have gone on being the flagship if it hadn't been destroyed in ST:Gen.

But the fact remains that the Federation doesn't call any of their ships warships.
