Internal Revenue Service stocking up on firearms and ammo

In May, U.S. Congressman Jeff Duncan (R-SC) was getting a lot of questions about ammo shortages and government agencies stockpiling guns and ammo. He wanted to know why IRS agents were buying ammo in large quantities and wanted to see the ammo supply himself. He went to the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Maryland where he witnessed 8 or 9 IRS agents using AR-15s at an indoor 100 yard firing range.

Duncan questioned why IRS agents needed to be trained with AR-15 military rifles with 30 round magazines for “standoff capability” and why the IRS couldn’t use agencies like the U.S. Marshals to assist them when needed.

The IRS has had a Criminal Investigative Division since 1919. They helped bring down Al Capone on tax evasion charges and were one of the lead agencies in the Lindbergh baby kidnapping (along with the New Jersey State Police under Colonel H. Norman Schwarzkopf --father of the Gulf War General) before J. Edgar Hoover convinced the President to consolidate the federal portion of the investigation under the FBI. The conspiracy nuts are just catching on to this now?

Many federal agencies have investigative and enforcement divisions of varying size to handle fraud, abuse, regulatory violations, and other cases within their particular field of interest. By the way, the Postal Service also has a law enforcement division. They deploy SWAT teams from the back of a mail carrier's jeep any time someone illegally opens their neighbor's mail. FEAR.

The sad thing about stories like this is that the Right cries "Wolf!" so often that if something fishy were really going on, no one would believe them.

The gun industry-lobby complex boosts assault-style rifles into the fastest growing category in the market and the GOP opposes any assault weapon restrictions, then a Republican congressman questions certified, trained, background-checked federal law enforcement agents having access to the same type of firearms? That's... about what I've come to expect, really.

The IRS is arming for their inevitable attempt to collect back taxes from the six-headed dragon known as Xertas, who poses as real estate agent Martin Green from Spring, Texas.

Do not look directly at his orange head. That's the angry one.

The only thing causing any ammo shortages is paranoid gun nuts buying up supplies out of delusional fears of government goons coming for their guns.

1) It's is the right of the people to own firearms.
2) The government is composed of the people.
3) IRS employees are the people.

Therefore: It should be okay for the people to arm up to protect themselves while doing their jobs.

Maybe they're afraid and are buying guns and ammo because they've been excessively auditing people who believe carrying firearms is a constitutional right. ;)

Didn't some minor village in Spain try this 100 years ago? I heard it was very successful, though for some reason never became widespread.

Look, if were for any sinister reason they wouldn't be buying the stuff. They'd be making it in their secret underground facilities in.................I gotta go, someone's at the door.

Dude, it's the Dominoes guy! Wait I didn't order a pizza...uh when did the Dominoes guy start driving a black SUV and wearing a black suit...and a badge....oh fuck me.

And just to make our paranoids a little more paranoid:

1) If this is waiting they're publicly buying, imagine the stockpile behind the scenes.

2) If they wanted to really do it secretly, they do it and we'd not know it. They fact that it's public means they know there's nothing to stop them.
