Shore Leave

Also it's unclear when the podcasting panel is exactly.

I was wondering about that. Seemed strange to have the same panel three times within such a short time.
The grid we were sent says that it's a two-hour panel from 1-3pm. Doesn't matter to me, as I can't do it at any of those times. :)

For those interested, I was bored and copied the panels with TrekLit-relevant panelists (bolded) out of the Shore Leave Pocket Program...

You left a few Trek Lit-relevant people unbolded, although they haven't done Trek Lit recently. Melissa Scott wrote DS9: Proud Helios and VGR: The Garden. Steven H. Wilson wrote three stories for DC's Star Trek Vol. 2 (a Trelane sequel called "A Little Man-to-Man Talk," a Pike-on-Talos story called "Door in the Cage," and the Saavik/Valeris focus "A Question of Loyalty"). And Rigel Ailur wrote "Brigadoon" in Strange New Worlds 10.

I find I am double booked three times throughout the weekend and I await the con to tell me where I really should be. It's messier than usual which is a shame for the 35th anniversary. In addition to the above, I will be the center square for Friday night's Hollywood Squares and serving as auctioneer the charity auction right after.

Oy. We (This is our collaborative account) are supposed to be on the collaboration panel and we aren't listed. :( We had signed up for the historical fiction workshop too, and I don't even see that listed.

Jeez, now I really wish I could go this year. "Door in the Cage" is one of my favorite Trek comics. I'd love to get it signed, but mostly, I'd just want to tell Steven H. Wilson how much I enjoyed it.

^ MSTT is still on Sundays at 5:30pm.

I stopped producing the roast because:
a) They started to cost too much money;
b) They became too much stress for too little reward; and
c) We ran out of people worth roasting who were willing to sit in the chair.

Living in the Baltimore suburbs, Shore Leave is and has always been the closest convention to me. But also the most bloody expensive. As much as I'd love to meet you all, I've never been able to afford it, or justify the expense even if I had the money.

Hope you all have a great time, though. :)

You can hang out in the bar or the dealer room without paying the entrance fee. No guarantee of meeting the special guests, but it has been known to happen.

Star Trek: Seekers sounds really exciting!

My only qualm is that I don't like the idea of not giving each book an actual title, just a number. But seeing the Sagittarius and the Endeavor back in action in the Taurus Reach? We loves it.

Hmm, sounds interesting. I'll probably give it a shot, though I may wait until after I finally catch up on New Frontier and the Typhon Pact stuff. The cover idea is amazing though.

Is there any news from today, or will any more announcements be saved until tomorrow?

^Announcements don't much happen at Shore Leave anymore. Generally anything we're cleared to announce gets spoiled in the catalogs beforehand anyway. When it does happen, it's more the exception than the rule.

I loved the excitement that Shore Leave used to bring, but at the same time it is fun to have surprise announcements pop up all year long.
