Well, I've been teasing this for several years, but it grew in the making, and so many issues in real life got in the way, stretching it's completion from weeks to months to years. And it still isn't complete, but the barebones state is enough for unveiling...

The Star Trek Lit-verse Reading Guide is my new website:

    http://startreklitverse.yolasite.com

The main features are color-coated-by-importance reading lists in chronological order for each book series. The lists consist of all books, comics, and short stories part of (or referenced in) the Lit-verse. This was based in part on the work done by turtletrekker in the Charting the Novelverse thread. A very special thanks to him and to all who have contributed info to this undertaking.

Also included is a tally of every separate Star Trek story ever published, a number which in August will reach 2018. That was an interesting factoid to figure out. That could also serve as a book list somewhat like the ones that used to be in the back of each novel.

The other main feature for now (more to come later) is the timeline of books, chapter by chapter, since Star Trek Nemesis. Basically a simplified version of the VotI timeline. This part I know needs some tweaking, but I'm hoping you all will help me work out a few final particulars there.

During the process I discovered several new novels and comics which should be on the Charting the Novelverse list, and I'll be posting them in that thread soon.

The site could serve as an overview for newcomers, or a tool for the well versed in TrekLit. Hopefully some of you will find it interesting. I will be adding new content and pictures, and keep it updated each month as new stuff comes out, though I am pretty behind on my reading, so I may need to ask some questions now and then. I really hope everyone here will provide their thoughts, corrections, and questions.

Most of all, I had fun making it!

Very, very impressive. I just took a quick perusal, and I'm definitely looking forward to really exploring it later. Excellent work, I'm really impressed by what I see so far!

I just looked through it some, and that is a nice site. I've been hoping someone would do something like this for TrekLit for quite a while.

Thanks for the kind words guys. Hopefully some folks can help me get more detailed on the entries of the "Post-Nemesis Year By Year" page that are in italics. Not too sure about the specifics on those.

I would have not guessed there had been over 2000 stories published over the years. I thought that was interesting to figure out.

This is super impressive and a lot of fun. I am particularly impressed with the post-Nemesis timeline done on a basically chapter by chapter basis. One thing I'd love to see would be a post-Nemesis suggested reading order, because its hard to take a reading order away from that list.

Wow, this is fantastic! The more resources we have like this, the better, I think. I really like how you differentiate between the more important books and the side stories, and specifically point out where to jump on.

I think emphasizing chronological order of different parts of stories over a reading order of entire works might be a bit confusing; I agree that a suggested reading order, or something like VotI did where it listed the "core work" where most of it fell chronologically and then gave little parenthetical notations for different parts of the books, might be a good addition. But still, I just spent like a half an hour playing with all the lists... great fun.

The one thing your site doesn't do is give a good indication of how the series connect to each other... but that's what the timeline I started and 8of5 expanded is for anyway.

    Great work :)

As someone working their way through trek literature, this is a great resource. I'll definitely save it down.

Yeah, now that you mention it that would be a good idea. I think that was my original intent, but it got lost in the idea of getting really detailed. I will add that to my list of future improvements. Thanks for the idea and the kind words.

Yeah I think those are the strong points of the format.

I'm glad you like it, Thrawn. Your ASTLROFC is awesome work so I value your opinion alot.

Yes I think the two works compliment each other well. I have a link to 8of5's site and I should probably put one specifically to that page as well.

Aww, thanks :) (I should point out that 8of5 put at least as much work into it as I did, though - credit where it's due.)

But yes, I think they do. It's great to have your site, also, because Voyages of the Imagination came out just as the interconnected modern LitVerse was starting to really get complicated, as Titan and Vanguard etc got started, so it'll be fantastic to carry that kind of detail forward through the rest of Marco's tenure and into all the ongoing stories nowadays.

Congrats on getting so much work done; you've been talking about this for a while!

Yes 8of5 does an amazing service with his blog and everything else. I hope he chimes in here eventually.

I'm glad someone was interested enough in my teases over the years to pay any attention. :techman:

You might want to add the end of Raise the Dawn, which is called Ab Initio, to Sept. 2384.

Awesome I will do that. But I'm not sure about any of the other chapters either. Do they all take place in September '83? I've not been able to read it yet.

^RtD pretty much spans the entire month of September and maybe a bit before and after.

    @ryan: Nice site.

You've divided things into more sections than I personally would've, which can be a bit confusing, and I think there are more numbered/connected DS9 novels that you ought to have added, but, overall, I like what you've done.

The only nitpick I have with what you've included is that Zero Sum Game needs to be listed in bright blue font because it's actually part of the DS9 Relaunch (the final page even says 'The Saga of Deep Space Nine will continue').

Awesome work! This would have been a handy resource when I was putting together my personal chronological reading order (with the help of Thrawn) a while back.

Actually, it's not simplified. It's more complicated. It should be color coded to show where the books fit. VoTI was setup to show where the book fit overall.

Other then that complaint, the site is very nice.
